    Abstract: A number of compact jet pump and prime mover propulsion units for watercraft. In each embodiment the jet propulsion unit impeller shaft is driven by a prime mover that is disposed at least in part below the jet propulsion unit and which has its output shaft disposed no higher than the jet propulsion unit impeller shaft axis. Various transmission arrangements are disclosed, as are in-line and V-type engines.
