Abstract: An integrated monitoring and multichannel communication system for the management of rescue teams, especially those fighting forest fires, comprises a suit, worn by a rescue worker; an electronic system; a telecommunication system; and an information system. The suit integrates fireproof, waterproof, heatproof and impact resistant materials to integrate, protect and allow access to the electronic system. The electronic system collects biometric and location data from the rescue worker, transmitting said data to a panel located in the back of the suit. The telecommunications system sends the biometric, orientation and location data, in real-time through an Ultra High Frequency network, to a computer integrated into a support vehicle, which in its turn sends the data to a server. The information system collects and manages the data to monitor the biometric, orientation and location data, to receive critical alerts and through maps to define deployment strategies for the rescue worker.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for incorporating a representation of a participant into a virtual 3D environment substantially in real-time is provided. An image including a participant is captured by a camera. A contour of the participant is automatically determined. Depth data is automatically associated with the participant contour. A first virtual 3D representation of the participant is automatically generated by extruding the participant contour based on the associated depth data. An interaction between the first virtual 3D representation of the participant and a second virtual 3D representation of a second object is displayed.

Abstract: A computer implemented method for providing location-based services using a mobile device is provided. A first anchor is generated by sensing a location-identifying physical characteristic proximate to a mobile device present at a first location and generating a representation of the location-identifying physical characteristic; determining a descriptive identification of the first location; and combining the descriptive identification and the representation of the location-identifying physical characteristic. The first anchor is transmitted to a computer remote from the first location. A request is made to a remote computer for a chronotope retrieved from a database of previously generated anchors, the received chronotope indicating a logical distance between the first anchor and a second anchor, wherein the second anchor is associated with a second location distinct from the first location.

Abstract: An information system based on time, space and relevance is provided. The system comprises a client that displays information in a user-friendly manner and is located in a domestic environment; a proxy that handles the collection and parsing of data; a server that gathers usage data from the client; a database data mining cluster that allows for user profiling and time, space and relevance analysis; a set of information channels, which are periodically updated, and upon which automatic suggestions are given based on a user profile.
