Patents Assigned to Yeaple Corporation
  • Patent number: 7354232
Abstract: A stack of pages can be bound along a binding edge to form a book by positioning a first side of an elongated conductive metal foil strip in contact with the binding edge. The strip has opposed ends, opposed side edges extending between the ends, and an adhesive with a predetermined melting temperature in contact with at least a portion of a first side thereof. The strip has been altered from a first configuration to a second configuration so as to enhance a resistance of the strip between the ends from a first value to a second value substantially greater than the first value. A voltage is applied across the strip sufficient to melt the adhesive to bind the stack of pages together along the binding edge.

  • Patent number: 7252472
Abstract: A stack of pages is bound along a first edge to form a book using an elongated resistive strip having an adhesive in contact with at least a portion of a first side. The strip has two opposed ends and is dimensioned to substantially cover the first edge of the stack, with the first side against the first edge of the stack. Preferably the strip has a series of alternating finely scribed, spaced-apart cuts extending through the foil. An electrical current is introduced to pass along the strip between the ends. The current should be sufficient to create enough heat in the strip to achieve a temperature at least as great as the adhesive's melting temperature, enabling the melted adhesive to bind the stack of pages together along the first edge.

  • Patent number: 6910842
Abstract: A bookbinding machine binds a stack of pages along a first edge thereof to form a book using an adhesive having a melting temperature and an elongated resistive strip having an adhesive atop at least a portion of a first side. The strip has two opposed ends and an electrical resistivity between the ends and is dimensioned to substantially cover the first edge of the stack, with the first side against the first edge of the stack. An electrical current is introduced to pass along the strip between the ends. The current should be sufficient to create enough heat in the strip to achieve a temperature at least as great as the melting temperature, enabling the melted adhesive to bind the stack of pages together along the first edge. Apparatus are also provided for supporting, holding, and clamping the page stack prior to and during the binding process.

  • Patent number: 4340069
Abstract: The object of the invention is to provide a pressure responsive probe and method of use for manually applying a predetermined probing force to an object such as the floor of a periodontal pocket, for example. The probe has a magnetizable member 28, and a movable lever 14 having a probe tip 18 at one end. The lever 14 and member 28 have cooperating surfaces 24, 30 respectively. The member 28 is magnetized for holding lever 14 in a normally "engaged" position in which the surfaces 24, 30 are held engaged with a preset magnetic force. When a predetermined probing force manually applied to the floor of a periodontal pocket through probe tip 18 overcomes the preset magnetic force, the lever 14 is moved to a "disengaged" position in which the surfaces 24, 30 are disengaged. The depth of the pocket can be observed on a scale on the probe tip at the predetermined probing force.

  • Patent number: 4038499
Abstract: A stereophonic pillow speaker system is disclosed wherein first and second baffle frames and loudspeakers thereon derive near field effects at points proximal to the speakers in response to electrical signals from an amplifier. Also included are pillow means for providing comfort to a listener's head between the loudspeakers and to isolate mechanical vibrations between the baffle frames and a listener's head when the ears of the listener are in registry with the near field effect. The system includes equalizer circuit means for tailoring of the electrical signals from the amplifier to achieve a high quality sound, to compensate for deficiencies of the loudspeakers at extreme low and high frequencies, and to substantially eliminate out-of-phase rumble.
