  • Patent number: 7373019
Abstract: A super-resolution enhanced image generating system is described for generating a super-resolution-enhanced image from an image of a scene, identified as image g0, comprising a base image and at least one other image gi, the system comprising an initial super-resolution enhanced image generator, an image projector module and a super-resolution enhanced image estimate update generator module. The initial super-resolution enhanced image generator module is configured to use the image g0 to generate a super-resolution enhanced image estimate. The image projector module is configured to selectively use a warping, a blurring and/or a decimation operator associated with the image gi to generate a projected super-resolution enhanced image estimate. The super-resolution enhanced image estimate update generator module is configured to use the input image gi and the super-resolution enhanced image estimate to generate an updated super-resolution enhanced image estimate.

  • Patent number: 6891925
Abstract: The invention presents an x-ray method for determining the three-dimensional molecular structure of molecules having an unknown structure. The molecules having unknown structure are arranged in a two-dimensional periodic array on a substrate molecular crystal having a known structure. It is a requirement of the method that the dimensions of the molecules with the unknown structure are smaller than the corresponding dimensions of the substrate crystal unit cell.

  • Patent number: 6656460
Abstract: A method and composition for treating a dry eye condition by topically applying to the eye surfaces an emulsion forming a tear film that acts to lubricate the eye and to inhibit evaporation therefrom. The emulsion is constituted by water in which is dispersed a mixture that includes a phospholipid, a non-polar oil, a non-toxic emulsifying agent and a polar lipid that imparts a net positive charge to the film that is distributed throughout the film, causing the film to be electrostatically attracted to the anionic surface of the eye whereby the film adheres thereto and cannot be washed away. Includable in the mixture is a non-soluble therapeutic agent, such as cyclosporin which is effective against an eye disease and is delivered to the eye by the film.

  • Patent number: 5763441
Abstract: The present invention relates to organic molecules capable of modulating tyrosine kinase signal transduction and particularly KDR/FLK-1 receptor signal transduction in order to regulate and/or modulate vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. The invention is based, in part, on the demonstration that KDR/FLK-1 tyrosine kinase receptor expression is associated with endothelial cells and the identification of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) as the high affinity ligand of FLK-1. These results indicate a major role for KDR/FLK-1 in the signaling system during vasculogenesis and angiogenesis. Engineering of host cells that express FLK-1 and the uses of expressed FLK-1 to evaluate and screen for drugs and analogs of VEGF involved in FLK-1 modulation by either agonist or antagonist activities is also described.
