  • Patent number: 8824861
Abstract: Certain interactive role performance systems and methods are disclosed that allow users to select a role to play in a prerecorded video, such as a movie scene, and to replace an original actor of that role with the user's performance. In certain examples, the user selects a prerecorded scene from which a character has been removed and records his or her performance. The interactive role performance system can insert the user's performance in place of the original character, thereby creating the appearance that the user is interacting, such as in real-time, with the other characters in the movie scene. Moreover, systems and methods can further utilize background subtraction techniques to isolate the user image. In further examples, the recorded user performance is stored separately from the prerecorded video.

  • Patent number: 8823745
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, methods, and computer program products perform image processing in an environment in which depth information and color data of a scene including a player and a background are received from a capture device, and in which an image of the player combined with video data is output.

  • Publication number: 20130236160
Abstract: Content preparation systems and methods are disclosed that generate scenes used by an interactive role performance system for inserting a user image as a character in the scene. Original media content from a variety of sources, such as movies, television, and commercials, can provide participants with a wide variety of scenes and roles. In some examples, the content preparation system removes an original character from the selected media content and recreates the background to enable an image of a user to be inserted therein. By recreating the background after removing the character, the user is given greater freedom to perform, as the image of the user can perform anywhere within the scene. Moreover, systems and methods can generate and store metadata associated with the modified media content that facilitates the combining of the modified media content and the user image to replace the removed character image.

  • Publication number: 20100035682
Abstract: A graphical user interface is disclosed for displaying a set of data tiles on a three dimensional array composed of rows and columns. In certain examples, navigation commands move the data tiles in a front row position to one of (i) an end row position or (ii) off the display area, causing the screen tiles in the subsequent row position to shift to the front row position. In some examples, a new row with new data tiles appears in the end row position. The data tiles can represent scenes from movies, television, or commercials. In some examples, the data tiles play a video of the represented scene when the data tile is selected and/or can include additional information associated with the scene, such as a number of associated user performances, number of scenes available for acting, user ratings or the like.

  • Patent number: 7649571
Abstract: An interactive video compositing device includes a chroma-key mixer, video switcher and control circuitry. The chroma-key mixer generates a composite image by combining a real-time image, such as one captured by a video recorder, with a prerecorded video image, such as a movie. The composite image includes the modified real-time image superimposed, or overlaid, onto the prerecorded image. The video switcher automatically selects either the composite image or the prerecorded image to be output to a display. The control circuitry controls the video switcher and other outputted signals based on data file information that corresponds to content of the prerecorded image or media. For example, the data files may contain information relating to the presence (or absence) of a particular character in a movie scene, thus allowing for the output and display, at appropriate times, of the real-time composite image instead of the prerecorded image.
