  • Patent number: 6601919
Abstract: A seat suspension arrangement comprising a seat frame (5), upholstery supporting means (1, 3) suspended transversely between lateral margins (5a) of the seat frame (5) and adjustable link means (7) for varying the transverse tension in the upholstery supporting means (1, 3) to vary the effective profile of the support provided by said upholstery supporting means (1, 3), wherein a plurality of said adjustable link means (7) are provided, spaced apart in a direction parallel to said lateral margins (5a) of the seat frame (5), and means is provided for enabling adjustment of the relative lengths of said plurality of link means (7) in such a manner that the profile of the support can be varied, both to adjust the degree of support provided at a given point, and also to adjust the position of the point at which said support is provided.

  • Patent number: 6428106
Abstract: A guide assembly for guiding a flexible element such as a seat belt relatively to a support such as a seat frame (1), comprises a mounting member (3) having an aperture for receiving an escutcheon member (4) for trimming an orifice through which the element is to pass. The mounting (3) and escutcheon member (4) are divided to enable lateral insertion of the flexible element therein, and the mounting (3) holds the divided escutcheon member together when the latter is inserted therein. The assembly may be supplemented by a divided guide conduit (5).

  • Patent number: 6152531
Abstract: A seat arrangement comprises a platform element in the form of a wire grid comprising side rails (1) between which extend a plurality of supporting wires (3) having angled portions (3A) such that the platform element is transversely extensible under load. The side rails (1) are linked to a seat frame (5) by wire links (6) that are subject to a seat frame that are subject to only limited extension so that the rails are (1) are held thereby against substantial displacement from the plane of the frame (5). The rails (1) are also linked to the frame (5) by way of Bowden cables (9) that are anchored to the frame forwardly of the side rails (1) and that can be contracted to draw portions of the side rails (1) forwards between adjacent wire links (6), thus varying the contour of the platform element to provide adjustable lumbar support.
