  • Publication number: 20060053782
Abstract: An exhaust manifold (4), which is joined to a catalyst container (3) for accommodating a catalyst (2) with a tilt angle, includes: a plurality of branch pipes (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) communicating with corresponding discharge ports (E1, E2, E3, E4) of an engine; an exhaust collecting portion (7) where the plurality of branch pipes are collected; and a partition plate (8) dividing the interior of the exhaust collecting portion (7). The partition plate (8) is cut away to provide a cut (9) at an end surface portion (8A) located toward the catalyst (2).

  • Patent number: 6918246
Abstract: A structure of an exhaust manifold branch collecting portion includes a double collecting pipe 21 for collecting a plurality of exhaust openings 11A, 17A. The double collecting pipe 21 is comprised of an inner pipe 21-1 and an outer pipe 21-2, which are connected integrally to each other. In a space formed between the inner pipe 21-1, the outer pipe 21-2, and a ring-shaped stainless steel cushion member 22-2, a tubular cushion member 22-1, which is thermally expanded and foamed, is arranged as a restricted cushion structure.

  • Patent number: 5609344
Abstract: A spiral gasket apparatus, capable of being held on an inclined flue gas outflow pipe without falling off therefrom, is constructed by winding a metal hoop member and a filler member, superposed on each other. A part of the hoop member from the beginning extremity of the hoop member on the inner side, which is wound as many as several turns to a welded fixed portion thereof, is raised inward by using the welded fixed portion as a fulcrum. An extremity portion thereof is folded back to form a superposition part. Since the raised part of the hoop member acts as a spring and is brought elastically into contact with an inclined flue gas outflow pipe, the gasket is held on the flue gas outflow pipe.

  • Patent number: 5152138
Abstract: An engine has first and second cylinder rows substantially parallel to each other and is mounted sideways so that the cylinder rows are arranged side by side in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle body with the first cylinder row disposed forward of the second cylinder row. An exhaust system for the engine has first and second exhaust pipes. The first exhaust pipe is connected to the cylinders in the first cylinder row on the front side of the first cylinder row and is led rearward of the engine through a recess formed on the lower side of an oil pan of the engine which is positioned between the first and second cylinder rows. The second exhaust pipe is connected to the cylinders in the second cylinder row on the rear side of the second cylinder row, is once led forward into the recess of the oil pan and then turned rearward in the recess to extend rearward. The first and second exhaust pipes are merged into a common exhaust pipe at a junction in the rear of the engine.
