  • Patent number: 11832602
Abstract: A fishing rod has a rod portion and a handle portion separated by a reel seat. At least one portion defines a magnet receiving area, which may be external or within a hollow portion that is surrounded by a wall and that is located in the rod portion, the reel seat portion, or in the handle portion for receiving a spacer piece. The spacer piece may be cylindrical shaped and made of foam. The spacer piece defines a receiving cavity for receiving a magnet. In one embodiment, the receiving cavity is asymmetrically oriented in the spacer piece such that the receiving cavity has a close side that is a first distance from the wall and has a far side that is a second distance from the wall for locating an area of best magnetic attraction at a predetermined location on an exterior of the rod portion or handle portion.

  • Patent number: 11350618
Abstract: A reel, such as a spincast reel, provides increased cranking power by eliminating sliding contact associated with a line pickup mechanism when the reel is in line retrieval mode. Fishing line is retrieved by locating a cam member proximate a body spool boss during a casting state for positioning the cam member to be acted on by cam engaging structure of the body spool boss. The cam member is rotated relative to the body spool boss. The cam member and a pick up pin are moved radially outwardly by the cam engaging structure. The cam member is axially moved away from the body spool boss. The cam member may then be rotated relative to the body spool boss during a line retrieve state, wherein the cam member and the body spool boss are spaced apart from one another for facilitating frictionless relative rotation.

  • Patent number: 10939674
Abstract: A fishing reel designed to retain rotational functionality under load. The reel has a spool and spinner head assembly. A first pin arm is pivotally mounted to a plate portion of the spinner head assembly. A plate facing surface of the first pin arm has at least a portion that defines a planar surface from the first pivot end to the first pin arm for providing deflection resistance. A first pick-up pin selectively extends the first pin arm through a first pick-up pin orifice in a wall portion of the spinner head assembly. A first pick-up sleeve is rotationally mounted on the first pick-up pin for engaging fishing line when fishing line is wound onto said spool.

  • Patent number: 10918096
Abstract: A fishing reel centrifugal brake assembly is keyed to a spool. The assembly retains slidable brake shoes that extend to contact a ring and speed adjust shoes that extend to contact a conical surface. Brake shoe channels are received on brake assembly rails. Speed adjust shoes apply centrifugal force against the conical surface to move the assembly axially when rotated. The brake assembly is urged away from the brake ring and towards the spool at lower rotational speeds. Braking resulting from brake shoes/brake ring contact is adjustable by a control dial that defines a camming surface that moves the brake ring axially to position a smaller or larger diameter portion of the brake ring adjacent to the brake shoes. Frame springs press the brake ring against the camming surface. A brake spring retainer maintains frame spring orientation when springs are compressed, which reduces the possible of reel jams.

  • Patent number: 10750731
Abstract: A device has a spool rotatable about an axis in a reel, and a braking structure that effects a braking force against rotation of the spool, the braking force being adjustable by changing a proximity of the braking structure relative to the spool. The device includes at least one tap in a fixed relationship with respect to the braking structure, and a brake dial accessible outside the reel and providing a threaded portion that accepts the at least one tap, the brake dial being rotatable to change the proximity of the braking structure relative to the spool by movement of the tap.

  • Patent number: 10433532
Abstract: A bow fishing reel for mounting on a bow. The reel provides an indicator for alerting a shooter when the reel is configured to fire safely. A main shaft in a body of the reel is positionable from a rearward winding position to a forward casting position by depressing a thumb button protruding the reel body. A thumb button structure engages with the main shaft for transitioning the main shaft from the rearward winding position to the forward casting position. A visual indicator displays a first indicator when the main shaft and thumb button are in the casting position. The visual indicator may be located on an indicator portion of the thumb button that is visible through an indicator window on a reel upper surface. The visual indicator may include a negative indicator and a positive indicator. A secondary negative indicator may also be provided on the thumb button.

  • Patent number: 9888678
Abstract: A fishing reel includes a frame and a crank shaft mounted to the frame. A kick lever is provided for selective engagement with teeth of a ratchet element keyed to the crank shaft. The kick lever selectively engages the ratchet element to place the reel in one of a cast state and a retrieve state. In one embodiment, the kick lever defines a base portion, a support post, a tooth engaging post and a horizontal reinforcing member that define a window. The window receives an attachment member that slidably secures the kick lever and prevents the kick lever from vertical movement during heavy loads. The unique design of the kick lever prevents the kick lever from moving in undesired directions, thereby ensuring that smooth performance of the reel and prevention of jamming of the mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9288973
Abstract: A fishing reel, such as a spincast reel, that includes a body having a frame that defines a thumb button attachment member on a rear side of the frame. A spool and spinner head are rotatably mounted forward of a front side of the frame. A front cover is secured to a front side of the frame to enclose components. A thumb button is pivotally secured to the thumb button attachment member. The thumb button has an actuating post that extends forwardly for applying force to a rearward end of a center shaft when the thumb button is depressed. A back cover is affixed to the rear side of the frame. The back cover defines a thumb button orifice for allowing a user to access the thumb button when the back cover is secured to the frame.

  • Patent number: 9210920
Abstract: A fishing reel designed to minimize line snag and simplify clicker operation. A frame mounted spool includes a forward flange defining a circumferential groove for receiving a smooth surfaced ring that is loosely mounted therein for minimizing line interaction. A spinner head assembly has pin arms that are pivotally secured to a rearward face. The pin arms present a substantially smooth rear surface for minimizing line snags. Pin springs are mounted on the opposite face of spinner head member and communicate with the pin arms via pin arm posts that extend through openings. An enclosure is affixed to the forward face of the spinner head for permitting the pin springs to have freedom of movement, but for enclosing pin springs and posts to prevent interaction with fishing line. A dual clicker passes through the frame for engaging the spool and the drag adjusting wheel.
