Abstract: A torque transmission device for connecting, in a rotationally fixed manner, a shaft and a rotor of a rotating machine which has superconducting turns and which is coolable in order to create the superconducting state of these turns, having a torque-loadable hollow body which has a rotation axis and ends in a shaft connection at the shaft end and in a rotor connection at the rotor end, wherein, between the shaft connection and the rotor connection, the hollow body has a compensation area, which can expand in the axial direction, between the shaft connection and the rotor connection, in order to compensate for axial length changes resulting from temperature differences.

  • Publication number: 20090298698
Abstract: A high-temperature superconductor layer arrangement includes at least one substrate and a textured buffer layer made of oxidic material that permits textured growth of a high-temperature superconductor. Surprisingly, a layer of the buffer material made of a rare-earth element cerium oxide containing lanthanum as the rare-earth element may be used to produce a homogeneous buffer layer in just one coating operation, where appropriate. The buffer layer material may be a rare-earth oxide of the general formula: Ln?2?xLn?xCe?2?yM?yO7±z, wherein 0?x, y, z?1, in which Ln? and Ln? each represents a rare-earth element, independently of each other, and M? represents a trivalent or tetravalent or pentavalent metal.

  • Publication number: 20090272734
Abstract: An induction heater for heating metallic billets with a yoke of E-shaped cross-section, on the middle limb of which a superconducting coil is seated, has a well located between the middle limb and each one of the respective two outer limbs. A billet can be heated by being rotated in each one of the two wells.

  • Publication number: 20090255923
Abstract: During induction heating of a billet of an electrically conducting material by rotating the billet relative to a magnetic field that is generated by means of at least one direct-current-carrying superconducting winding on an iron core, the reverse-induction voltage can be reduced when a direct current is generated and maintained in the winding at a value that generates in the iron core at least in the region of the winding a magnetic flux density at which the relative permeability of the material of the iron core is less than in a zero-current state of the winding.

  • Patent number: 7531750
Abstract: A power supply line for connecting a superconducting consumer system to a current delivery point, which is at a higher temperature than the consumer system, includes a carrier and a plurality of band-shaped, mechanically and electrically parallel high-temperature superconductors (HTSL). To achieve a high critical current density with simultaneously low heat-conducting capacity of the power supply line, the carrier includes at least one elongated plate that includes a sparingly (low) heat-conducting material, with a ratio of width to thickness of at least 3:1 and band-shaped HTSL that are arranged parallel adjacent to one another on the carrier. Each band-shaped HTSL also has a normally conducting current path.

  • Publication number: 20090088326
Abstract: A method of producing a thin layer, high-temperature superconductor strip is disclosed. In the method, a metal salt solution is formed and coated onto a substrate including a high-temperature superconductor layer. Heat is then applied directly or indirectly to the solution. The metal salt solution may contain a metal-organic salt solution or a metal inorganic metal salt solution. When an inorganic metal salt solution is utilized, a reducing solution may also be applied to the HTSC layer prior to heating. In addition, nano-sized metal particles may be added to the metal salt solution and/or the reducing solution.

  • Publication number: 20090051241
Abstract: A winding former with a winding support between a first plate and a second plate for a saddle coil winding made up from a thin layer HTSC, which is destined for a cylindrical armature of an electrical machine, and which has two longitudinal legs parallel to the armature axis between two winding ends, wherein the winding support for each winding end has a bearing surface, which enables the thin layer HTSC to be wound to form a saddle coil without damaging the HTSC thin layer.

  • Publication number: 20080290740
Abstract: The invention relates to a linear motor and in particular a primary part of the linear motor for the movement of a secondary part, with a plurality of coils for inducing a magnetic field transmitting force along an axis between the primary part and the secondary part and with teeth, which are made from a magnetizable material, are arranged between adjacent coils and have a base section remote from the axis and an end section facing the axis, the teeth on the end section being wider than on the base section. In order to provide a primary part or a linear motor which also allow for high force densities given a compact design, the coils also extend in the interspace between the end sections of adjacent teeth so as to increase the magnetic flux density.

  • Publication number: 20080293576
Abstract: A high-temperature superconducting thin-film strip conductor (HTSL-CC) includes a metal substrate, a buffer layer chemically generated thereon and grown crystallographically unrotated in relation to the metal substrate, and a chemically generated superconducting coating thereon. The HTSL-CC possesses high texturing of the buffer layer since the metal substrate has a surface roughness RMS <50 nm, and since and the buffer layer is grown directly onto its surface, without an intermediate layer, crystallographically unrotated in relation to the crystalline structure of the metal substrate.
