Abstract: A system and method for processing, amplification and distribution of audio signals. In an embodiment, the method includes receiving at least one digital audio input signal from one or more audio sources via wireless or wired communications. In an embodiment, address information accompanying the at least one digital audio input signal is identified to determine to which modular processor/amplifier unit the audio signal is to be directed. In dependence upon identification of one or more modular processor/amplifier units, the identified one or more modular processor/amplifier units are awakened, and the processed/amplified audio signals is directed to one or more audio listening zones.
