Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices are configured to release a secure print job between users. They include receiving a print job associated with an electronic document created by a primary user, the print job comprising instructions for secure print authentication by a secondary user. They also include providing access by the secondary user to a print list comprising a subset of secure print jobs comprising the print job created by the primary user and providing the secondary user with an alternate access mechanism for the secure print authentication for printing the electronic document as part of the print job created by the primary user based on a relationship between the primary user and the secondary user. They also include providing instructions to print the electronic document when the secondary user has completed the alternate access.

Abstract: An imaging drum has an outer surface configured for receiving an ink image from a print head and transferring the image at a transfer nip. The imaging drum has a central channel extending through the drum along a central longitudinal axis. An inner drum surface faces the channel and includes surface alterations that increase or decrease at least one of surface emissivities and heat absorption to mitigate thermal influences on the imaging drum and control temperature variability along the imaging drum.

Abstract: In a printing method, summarizing information is extracted from a print job. Additional content is generated based on the summarizing information. The additional content is integrated into the print job to produce an augmented print job including the additional content. The augmented print job is printed. In an illustrative advertising application, summarizing information is extracted from a print job, advertising content is selected from a database of advertising content based on the summarizing information, and the selected advertising content is integrated into the print job.

Abstract: An interactive interface for creating a search query for a corpus of machine-readable documents, each of which is associated with at least one category of a category hierarchy. The interactive interface includes a cone tree generation component, a query specification component, a begin search component, and a query generation component. The cone tree generation component generates and displays a cone tree representing the category hierarchy. The cone tree represents each category of the category hierarchy as a node having a selection object for indicating inclusion of the category in a one of a first group, and a second group. Each selection object is responsive to a cursor control device. The query specification component generates and displays a query specification object including a first group object and a second group object. Each group object is responsive to the cursor control device and indicates members of the group.

Abstract: A genetic algorithm-based system for selecting a solution. Means are provided for evaluating solutions according to a preselected evaluation function. A first computer generates a first population of solutions, the first population of solutions being of a first representation scheme. A second computer generates a second population of solutions, the second population of solutions being of a second representation scheme. A translator translates solutions of the second representation scheme into equivalent solutions of the first representation scheme. Means are provided for introducing solutions from the second population into the first population of solutions.

Abstract: For the enhancement of toner release from an imaging surface on a flexible belt member in an electrophotographic device, a resonator suitable for generating vibratory energy is arranged in line contact with the back side of the belt member, to uniformly apply vibratory energy to the member. The resonator includes a horn divided into a linear array of segments, and an array of vibration producing elements, each coupled to at least one horn segment, and driven with a voltage to produce a high frequency vibratory response. To avoid the problem of roll-off in response that occurs at the outer segments of the array of horn segments, the vibration producing elements coupled to the outer horn segments are driven with a higher voltage than those coupled to horn segments in the central portion of the array.

Abstract: An electrophotographic system including a corona charging device for applying a charge to a surface and having a coronode driven to a corona producing condition; a conductive grid interposed between the surface to be charged and the coronode; the conductive grid having a self-biasing arrangement to control the voltage thereon produced by corona current from the coronode, the self-biasing arrangement including a current sinking device between the conductive grid and a common; and a power supplying takeoff, electrically connected between the conductive grid and the current sinking device, and having a voltage thereat controlled by the current sinking device.

Abstract: An apparatus in which a developer roller transports developer material into contact with a photoconductive surface having either a continuous tone or a half-tone latent image recorded thereon. The speed of the developer roller is controlled so that it rotates at a higher speed when developing the continuous tone latent image than when developing the half-tone latent image. In this way, development is optimized for the continuous tone and half-tone latent images so as to produce high quality copies.

Abstract: A coaxial cable tap is utilized to couple transmitting and receiving devices to a transmission line. An electrical probe (301) is inserted into a coaxial cable (10) to separate the outer braided conductor (12) and to contact the center conductor (14) of the cable. A mounting block (401) is mounted in a metal clip or band (501) to support the electrical probe (501) and provide electrical contact. The metal band (501) has two prongs (509, 511) to pierce the outer cover and contact the outer braided conductor of the cable. This apparatus is then mounted in a connector box (101) for support, protection and connection to the transmitting/receiving devices.
