  • Patent number: 9325817
Abstract: An image viewing device is matable with a smart device to enhance a user's viewing experience of multimedia content. A display surface of the smart device is not visible to a user when the smart device is inserted into an opening in a back surface opposite a display screen (e.g., touchscreen) of the image viewing device. During operation, the smart device communicates display information to the image viewing device so that multimedia content appears on the touchscreen. For example, the smart device communicates picture or video information to the image viewing device.

  • Patent number: 9239470
Abstract: Eyewear includes a frame front (14) having first and second sides (26, 28) to which are attached respective first and second temple arms (40, 42). The frame front is pivotally coupled to the temple arms to provide multiple tilt adjustment positions that enable a person wearing the eyewear to rotate the frame front about a pivot axis (48) between forward-facing and near-field adjustment positions (52, 56). First and second nose pad arms (70l, 70r) couple respective first and second nose pads (72l, 72r) to the frame front and have respective first and second nose bridge-contacting surfaces (74l, 74r). The nose pad arms extend from the frame front in a direction that sets an offset distance (92) between the nose bridge-contacting surfaces and the frame front to establish a vertical drop distance (98) that allows the user rotating the frame front about the pivot axis to the near-field adjustment position to see over the top long side (86) of the frame front.

  • Patent number: 9118750
Abstract: A configurable modular communication device is composed of an information delivery module and an information input module that are matable to each other. The information delivery module is a single base unit that can work with a touchscreen keypad or a number of modular keypad or other information input attachments. The information input module enables a user to change the look of the modular communication device according to personal taste and enhances its functionality to fit the exact occasion and mode of use. The information delivery module acts on its own as the navigation key and provides on its display screen menu (including an on-screen touch sensing keypad) user access to all functionality including telephone, PDA (personal digital assistant), camera, clock, GPS, and MP3 music player. User-controlled navigation takes place on or in the vicinity of the display screen, whether by hard or soft key actuation.

  • Publication number: 20150021224
Abstract: Packaging configured to contain an item is made from a pre-formed plastic web from which a user-graspable tear tab extends to enable removal of the item from the packaging. Preferred embodiments each include a plastic web in the form of a pocket and positioned between front and back lidding sheets that have adhesive sections bonded together to form unitary packaging. The pocket is sized to pass through a pocket-receiving aperture in the front lidding sheet and retains and displays the packaged item. The tear tab outwardly extends from a peripheral flange from which the plastic web depends. A score line boundary formed in one of the front and back lidding sheets circumscribes or partly circumscribes at least a majority of the pocket receiving aperture and allows removal of the item by a user pulling the tear tab to tear open the packaging along the score line boundary.
