Abstract: A solar-powered umbrella has a cap structure that is connected by hinges to struts. The struts are relatively rigid and positioned above the umbrella shade and house solar panels. When the umbrella is opened and closed, the struts rotate via the hinges from an open to closed position. When the solar panels are exposed to the sun, light is converted to electrical energy to charge a rechargeable battery. The battery supplies power to one or more USB ports. A user can recharge an electronic device (e.g., smartphone or tablet computer) by connecting to a port of the umbrella using a cable.
Abstract: A solar charging umbrella uses solar power to charge electronic devices wirelessly, such as by a wireless or inductive charging port. The umbrella is self-sustained, capable of charging electronic devices in locations away from electrical outlets. The umbrella has a rechargeable battery that is recharged by sunlight. When charged, the umbrella's battery can charge devices when sunlight is not available. The umbrella supports simultaneous charging of higher power devices such as tablet computers.

Abstract: A device includes a frame structure; a shade attached to the frame structure; and a pole attached to the frame structure. The device includes a solar panel attached to the frame structure and positioned above the shade. The frame and the shade unfold upward along the pole to open the shade. The solar panel rotates up as the frame and shade unfold upward. The frame and the shade fold down along the pole to close the shade. The solar panel rotates down as the frame and shade fold down.
Abstract: A new plant variety of the Zingerberacae family resulting from a discovery of a mutant attached to a stool (mat) of lesser galangal (Alpinia officinarum) in a cultivated field and subsequently asexually reproduced from stem cuttings. The most distinguishing characteristics of this new variety are the pungent cinnamon fragrance and flavor of its leaves (tea) and its physical differences with the parent plant. The new variety has valuable commercial potential and excellent post harvest prospects.
