  • Patent number: 10002571
Abstract: The system for coordinated color control of LCD backlight and filters comprises a display pixel, a light source driver, a filter driver, and a processor. The light source driver sets a backlight color and a backlight intensity level for the display pixel. The filter driver sets an array of filter levels for three or more filters for the display pixel. The processor is configured to determine the backlight color and the backlight intensity level and the array of filter levels to target a desired color and intensity for the display pixel. The array of filter levels is determined based at least in part on the backlight color and the backlight intensity level.

  • Patent number: 8665296
Abstract: A system for generating a colored light comprises a set of illuminant types and a processor. The set of illuminant types is associated with a chromaticity gamut, and the set of illuminant types comprises at least five illuminant types that are each associated with an illuminant type hue angle. The processor is configured to determine, based at least in part on a mapping, a sequence of one or more output level sets that are associated with changing a first generated colored light associated with a first color coordinate to a second generated colored light associated with a second color coordinate. The mapping comprises associating each color coordinate with an output level set that uses a set of hue-adjacent illuminant types. Hue-adjacent illuminant types comprise a group of illuminant types that are determined to be adjacent in a circular ordered list of illuminant types which is circularly ordered according to the illuminant type hue angle.

  • Patent number: 8330392
Abstract: A system for changing a light source intensity comprises a controller, an input interface, and a memory. The input interface is configured to receive a command intensity for a light source, wherein the light source has a current intensity, and wherein an intensity of the light source is ramped toward the command intensity from the current intensity automatically. The controller is configured to determine a non-linear curve for the intensity of the light source, wherein at least a portion of the non-linear curve includes a beginning slope that is steeper than an end slope and to cause a change of a light source intensity by ramping over a time interval, wherein the light source intensity targets conforming to the non-linear curve for the intensity of the light source. The memory is coupled to the processor and configured to store an intensity value.

The processor is configured to receive a command intensity for a light source, wherein the light source has a current intensity, and wherein an intensity of the light source is ramped toward the command intensity from the current intensity automatically. The processor is further configured to determine a non-linear curve for the intensity of the light source, wherein at least a portion of the non-linear curve includes a beginning portion slope that is steeper at a beginning of the portion than an end portion slope at an end of the portion and to cause a change of a light source intensity by ramping over a time interval, wherein the light source intensity targets conforming to the non-linear curve for the intensity of the light source. The memory coupled to the processor and configured to provide instructions to the processor.

  • Patent number: 7994732
Abstract: Changing light source intensity is disclosed. A command intensity is received for a light source, wherein the light source has a current intensity, and wherein a starting intensity is equal to the current intensity when the command is received. A sequence of at least three steps in intensity for the light source is determined, wherein each step of the sequence is used to change the light source intensity from the starting intensity toward the command intensity, and wherein each of the at least three steps of the sequence are progressively smaller. A light source intensity change is caused, wherein the sequence of the at least three steps in intensity for the light source are added each in turn to the current intensity with a time interval occurring between each of the at least three steps of the sequence.
