Patent number: 6585179Abstract: A chopper for chopping up food has an upper portion and a push rod, displaceable therein, with an actuation head and a blade. A lower portion is connected to the upper portion, and a chopped material cup serves to receive the chopped material. Inserted in the upper portion and on the top surface of the actuation head are parts made of a material which is softer than the material of the upper portion or respectively of the actuation head. Thanks to the soft parts inserted in the upper portion, the chopper can be securely held by hand. The soft part inserted on the actuation head damps the blows exerted by hand for chopping.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 2002Date of Patent: July 1, 2003Assignee: Zyliss Haushaltwaren AGInventors: Hans Weibel, René Ackermann

Patent number: 6164574Abstract: A mill for grinding material such as salt grains or pepper corns whose coarseness can be adjusted and whose grinding gear can be disassembled for cleaning. The mill has a middle part which serves as a reservoir for the material to be ground and an upper part which is attachable to the middle part by means of an attachment and adjustment element. In addition, the mill has a lower part which is designed to unscrew from the middle part for the purpose of cleaning the grinding gear. The grinding gear includes both an upper grinding wheel which is disposed underneath on the middle part and a lower grinding wheel which is screwed together with the attachment and adjustment element through a pivot pin. The pivot pin is connected in a nonrotatable way to the upper part. The grinding gear is actuated by turning the upper part. Using the attachment and adjustment element, the distance between the two grinding wheels and thus the degree of coarseness of grinding can be adjusted.Type: GrantFiled: September 24, 1999Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Zyliss Haushaltwaren AGInventor: Hans Weibel

Patent number: 6052906Abstract: The nutcracker has two handles which can be pivoted toward each other about a pin. The one handle is connected to a basket for receiving a nut. The other handle is designed as a pressing handle, its end region being constructed as the pressing part. An insert part can be inserted into this end region for opening small nuts. The basket is provided with an aperture through which the end region of the pressing handle can run directly into the basket. A good squeezing result (opening of the nut) can be achieved. The rear basket wall is preferably closed off in order to prevent the nut from falling out when being placed in. The spacing between the pressing part and the basket wall is selected in such a way that a crushing of the nut is not possible.Type: GrantFiled: January 25, 1999Date of Patent: April 25, 2000Assignee: Zyliss Haushaltwaren AGInventor: Hans Weibel

Patent number: 5632450Abstract: The chopper comprises an upper part, a cylindrical part axially displaceable therein with a head, a blade connected to the cylindrical part, a lower part which can be placed upon the upper part as well as a chopping cup which can be placed on the lower part. The lower part is provided with an outwardly protruding projection on its lower end. The chopping cup has a floor with a rim in its outer area which protrudes upwardly outside on the lower part. The rim is provided with nubs on the inside which together with the projection form a snap closure. During chopping, the chopped food remains in the chopping cup. After the chopping process has been completed, the chopping cup with the chopped food can be removed from the lower part.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1995Date of Patent: May 27, 1997Assignee: Zyliss Haushaltwaren AGInventor: Roland Moor
