    Abstract: A network device, a speed test method and a system thereof are provided. The system provides a speed test server that allows the network device to initiate a speed test by issuing a test request with information of a bandwidth at an end of the network device to the speed test server. In an aspect, the system also provides a dispatch server that selects one available speed test server for performing the speed test method. In the speed test method, the speed test server transmits test packets with a first identifier to the network device and the network device calculates a downstream transmission rate based on the received test packets. The network device transmits test packets with a second identifier to the speed test server, and the speed test server calculates an upstream transmission rate based on the received test packets.

    Abstract: A method for setup of a network device and a system thereof are provided. The method is operated in a gateway device in a LAN. In the method, a software sequence operated in the gateway device receives packets generated by a terminal device in the LAN. After analyzing the packets, a message for triggering a setting process is generated if an event in compliance with a trigger condition is determined from the packets. The message for triggering a setting process is transmitted to a default setup device. The setup device is such as a computer device that allows the user to set up parameters according to an event requirement. When the network device receives the parameters, a corresponding function in the network device is re-activated.

    Abstract: A method for avoiding IKE process conflict includes the steps in that a first gateway sends a first IKE request packet and receives a second IKE request packet from a second gateway. Afterward a decision is performed to decide whether the first gateway is an initiator or a responder. If the first gateway is an initiator, the first gateway will drop the received second IKE request packets and continue working as an initiator. If the first gateway is a responder, then first gateway will cancel the pre-sent first IKE request packet and work as a responder, and will perform IKE negotiation according to the second IKE packet. The present invention also discloses an apparatus for realizing above method.

The apparatus establishes VPN between an internal network and at least one external network, whereby a mobile node (MN) can roam in the external network with security. The external HA closest to the MN in the visited external network is selected for mobility management of the MN. The MN only needs to register with the same external HA when roaming in the same external network. The handoff latency and end-to-end latency for a roaming MN, therefore, could be reduced significantly. It will also not reestablish the IPsec tunnel within the same external network.
