  • Publication number: 20240211038
Abstract: Methods to trigger eye enrollment without requiring good gaze interaction are described that allow a guest user of a device to initiate partial or full eye enrollment even though their eye model is not known and thus conventional gaze-based interactions do not work well. A gaze tracking system collects gaze data in the background. At any time (or within an interval after a user puts on the device), an eye enrollment can be triggered by detecting some gaze gesture, for example rolling the eyes in a large circle, or moving the eyes randomly for a time that exceeds a threshold. Depending on the coverage of the gaze/cornea data collected in the background, a full eye enrollment or only a visual axis enrollment may be performed in response to the gesture.

  • Publication number: 20240201512
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for generating images to be displayed on lenticular displays. In these methods, a fixed mesh is generated offline, and in real-time texture information is mapped to the fixed mesh. In an offline process, texture and 3D mesh information for an object is used to render UV map views for multiple viewpoints of the object, view maps are generated from display calibration data, and a lenticular to UV map is generated from the UV map views and view maps. In real-time, texture information is captured, and a composite process is performed that generates a lenticular image for multiple viewpoints by sampling pixels from the texture based on the lenticular to UV map. The lenticular image is then displayed on the lenticular display. Detected positions of persons in the environment may be used to limit the number of viewpoints that are generated during the real-time composite process.

  • Publication number: 20240205363
Abstract: Embodiments relate to extracting features from images, such as by identifying keypoints and generating keypoint descriptors of the keypoints. An apparatus includes a pyramid image generator circuit, a keypoint descriptor generator circuit, and a pyramid image buffer. The pyramid image generator circuit generates an image pyramid from an input image. The keypoint descriptor generator circuit processes the pyramid images for keypoint descriptor generation. The pyramid image buffer stores different portions of the pyramid images generated by the pyramid image generator circuit at different times and provides the stored portions of the pyramid images to the keypoint descriptor generator circuit for keypoint descriptor generation. When first portions of the pyramid images are no longer needed for the keypoint descriptor generation, the first portions are removed from the pyramid image buffer to provide space for second portions of the pyramid images that are needed for the keypoint descriptor generation.

  • Publication number: 20240205605
Abstract: A context-aware voice guidance method is provided that interacts with other voice services of a user device. The voice guidance does not provide audible guidance while the user is making a verbal request to any of the voice-activated services. Instead, the voice guidance transcribes its output on the screen while the verbal requests from the user are received. In some embodiments, the voice guidance only provides a short warning sound to get the user's attention while the user is speaking on a phone call or another voice-activated service is providing audible response to the user's inquires. The voice guidance in some embodiments distinguishes between music that can be ducked and spoken words, for example from an audiobook, that the user wants to pause instead of being skipped. The voice guidance ducks music but pauses spoken words of an audio book in order to provide voice guidance to the user.

Abstract: Some embodiments provide a mapping application that has a novel way of displaying traffic congestion along roads in the map. The mapping application in some embodiments defines a traffic congestion representation to run parallel to its corresponding road portion when the map is viewed at a particular zoom level, and defines a traffic congestion representation to be placed over its corresponding mad portion when the map is viewed at another zoom level. The mapping application in some embodiments differentiates the appearance of the traffic congestion representation that signifies heavy traffic congestion from the appearance of the traffic congestion representation that signifies moderate traffic congestion. In some of these embodiments, the mapping application does not generate a traffic congestion representation for areas along a road that are not congested.

Abstract: A mixed reality system including a head-mounted display (HMD) and a base station. Information collected by HMD sensors may be transmitted to the base via a wired or wireless connection. On the base, a rendering engine renders frames including virtual content based in part on the sensor information, and an encoder compresses the frames according to an encoding protocol before sending the frames to the HMD over the connection. Instead of using a previous frame to estimate motion vectors in the encoder, motion vectors from the HMD and the rendering engine are input to the encoder and used in compressing the frame. The motion vectors may be embedded in the data stream along with the encoded frame data and transmitted to the HMD over the connection. If a frame is not received at the HMD, the HMD may synthesize a frame from a previous frame using the motion vectors.

Abstract: A system comprises an encoder configured to compress and encode data for three-dimensional visual volumetric content. To compress the 3D visual volumetric content, a compressed mesh is generated as well as compressed attribute information. Also, texture coordinates indicating a mapping between the vertices of the mesh and the attributes are signaled. However, in some situations a resolution used for the texture coordinates and a resolution used for the attributes may differ, in which case the respective resolutions are signaled. A decoder determines how to adjust the texture coordinate to attribute value mapping to account for the differing resolutions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to debugging of an accelerator circuit using a packet limit breakpoint. A vector circuit reads a subset of instruction packets from an instruction memory and receives a portion of input data from a data memory corresponding to the subset of instruction packets. The vector circuit executes a set of vector operations in accordance with multiple instruction packets from the subset using data from the received portion of input data identified in the multiple instruction packets to generate output data. A program counter control circuit coupled to the instruction memory triggers a breakpoint in a program stored in the instruction memory causing the accelerator circuit to stop executing remaining instruction packets in the program following the multiple instruction packets responsive to a number of instruction packets executed in the program from a time instant of an event reaching a predetermined number.
