  • Patent number: 11972070
Abstract: Mitigation techniques can be used to reduce noise generated by wireless communication circuitry (e.g., near-field communication circuitry) in an electronic device including a display, touch, and wireless communication circuitry. In some examples, a touch screen can have a backplane including a mesh of routing traces connected to an array of chiplets. In some examples, the chiplets can repeat signals to prevent the accumulation of noise induced by an NFC coil. In some examples, the ratio between vertical and horizontal resistances of routing traces can be configured to mitigate noise induced by the coil. In some examples, the routing traces of the mesh can be configured to share a common geometric centroid. In some examples, a plurality of routing traces can be routed in a twisted pair configuration. In some examples, the routing traces and chiplets can be routed to minimize traversal through regions of relatively high electromagnetic field.

  • Patent number: 11972083
Abstract: Touch input devices are provided with the capability of sensing a capacitive load in a two-dimensional array while also being able to sense deflection or movement of the input device in multiple different locations under an input pad. A touch input device can beneficially be used in a remote control device and can be used with multiple input buttons or platforms overlaying multiple capacitive touch input regions on a capacitive touch sensor substrate. Movement and position of a capacitive load can be tracked and calculated via output signals from a set of electrodes or other capacitance sensors with irregular shapes, with inconsistent distances from the capacitive load, and which are positioned below variable materials and material compositions. Thus, tracking gestures and taps can be detected using the capacitance sensing devices, and deflection input can be detected using switches or other actuators situated under the capacitance sensing devices.

  • Patent number: 11972713
Abstract: An electronic device may display image content via an electronic display by controlling light emission from display pixels of the electronic display. A processor of the electronic device may receive image data destined for a defective display pixel (e.g., dim pixel, dead pixel). The processor may convert a gray level of the image data into a luminance domain to generate a target luminance that would have been emitted by the defective display pixel had the display pixel not been defective. After selecting a compensation mask, the processor may distribute the target luminance of the defective display pixels to nearby non-defective pixels of the electronic display to conceal the presence of the defective display pixel.

  • Patent number: 11972823
Abstract: A controller includes an interface and circuitry. The interface communicates with memory cells arranged in multiple address locations. Storage nodes holding storage values included in the memory cells are accessible using select transistors powered by an adjustable supply voltage. The circuitry reads data units protected by an Error Correction Code (ECC) from the memory cells and decode the ECC of the data units. Upon detecting, using the ECC, that a given data unit read from a given address location contains one or more errors, the circuitry logs an error event specifying at least a time of occurrence associated with the error event and the given address location. The circuitry identifies that the select transistors experience physical degradation due to aging, based on the times of occurrence and address locations logged in the error events, and adjusts the supply voltage provided to the select transistors to compensate for the physical degradation.

  • Patent number: 11967015
Abstract: The subject technology provides a framework for learning neural scene representations directly from images, without three-dimensional (3D) supervision, by a machine-learning model. In the disclosed systems and methods, 3D structure can be imposed by ensuring that the learned representation transforms like a real 3D scene. For example, a loss function can be provided which enforces equivariance of the scene representation with respect to 3D rotations. Because naive tensor rotations may not be used to define models that are equivariant with respect to 3D rotations, a new operation called an invertible shear rotation is disclosed, which has the desired equivariance property. In some implementations, the model can be used to generate a 3D representation, such as mesh, of an object from an image of the object.

  • Patent number: 11964807
Abstract: Packaging may include a base box and a lid having a tamper-evident seal. The tamper-evident seal may include a paper substrate having a first adhesive portion configured to attach to a side panel of the base box, a second adhesive portion configured to attach to a second side panel of the lid. The first and second adhesive portions may be disposed on opposing sides of the paper substrate, and a tab configured to be accessible on an exterior of a package when the tamper-evident seal is applied may be a part of the paper substrate. When the tab is pulled with sufficient force, the paper substrate tears such that the first adhesive portion and the second adhesive portion remain fixed to the first and second side panels, respectively, while the remainder of the paper substrate tears free so that the packaging may be opened.

  • Patent number: 11967018
Abstract: Rendering an avatar in a selected environment may include determining as inputs into an inferred shading network, an expression geometry to be represented by an avatar, head pose, and camera angle, along with a lighting representation for the selected environment. The inferred shading network may then generate a texture of a face to be utilized in rendering the avatar. The lighting representation may be obtained as lighting latent variables which are obtained from an environment autoencoder trained on environment images with various lighting conditions.

  • Patent number: 11963795
Abstract: A wearable electronic device includes a body, a housing component, a band operable to attach the body to a body part of a user, and a force sensor coupled to the housing component. The force sensor is operable to produce a force signal based on a force exerted between the body part of the user and the housing component. A processing unit of the wearable electronic device receives the force signal from the force sensor and determines the force exerted on the housing component based thereon. The processing unit may use that force to determine a tightness of the band, determine health information for the user, adjust determined force exerted on a cover glass, and/or to perform various other actions.

  • Patent number: 11967836
Abstract: Metal object detection may be performed in a wireless power system by monitoring the 5th or other order harmonic current of a dual-frequency power transmitter driven by a voltage-fed inverter with square-wave output. While power transfer is maintained by tuning at the fundamental frequency, the transmitter circuit is tuned simultaneously at the 5th order frequency or other harmonic frequencies to increase or decrease the flow of the harmonic current for when a metal object is present. The receiver circuit may include a notch filter to filter out the 5th order frequency. With the dual-frequency tuning configuration, the presence of a metal object causes a significant drop of the increase in the harmonic current at the transmitter side while the receiver behaves as an open circuit with no effect on power transfer. The harmonic tuning circuit may be switched off as necessary to leave only the fundamental frequency for power transfer.

  • Patent number: 11965927
Abstract: Thermal conditions can be simulated for an electronic device. Application developers may want to test how applications perform under various thermal conditions on a device that includes thermal management. The application developers can use the tests to determine whether the application should take proactive measures to maintain application performance, and which proactive measures should be taken. For example, an application can reduce its use of resources to ensure that an application maintains a desired quality of user experience (and at a minimum remains responsive) under adverse thermal conditions. Creating adverse conditions can be difficult to replicate, costly to implement, and can potential cause damage to the electronic device being tested. In some examples, simulating thermal conditions can be used instead of placing the device in real-world adverse conditions to improve the testing process for developers.

  • Patent number: 11968056
Abstract: Avatars may be displayed in a multiuser communication session using various spatial modes. One technique for presenting avatars includes presenting avatars such that an attention direction of the avatar is retargeted to match the intent of the remote user corresponding to the avatar. Another technique for presenting avatars includes a pinned mode in which a spatial relationship between one or more avatars remains displayed in a consistent spatial relationship to a local user regardless of movements of the local user. Another technique for presenting avatars includes providing user-selectable presentation modes between a room scale mode and a stationary mode for presenting a representation of a multiuser communication session.
