Patent number: 12230361Abstract: An apparatus includes an in-memory compute circuit that includes a memory circuit configured to generate a set of products by combining received input values with respective weight values stored in rows of the memory circuit, and to combine the set of products to generate an accumulated output value. The in-memory compute circuit may further include a control circuit and a plurality of routing circuits, including a first routing circuit coupled to a first set of rows of the memory circuit. The control circuit may be configured to cause the first routing circuit to route groups of input values to different ones of the first set of rows over a plurality of clock cycles, and the memory circuit to generate, on a clock cycle following the plurality of clock cycles, a particular accumulated output value that is computed based on the routed groups of input values.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 2023Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Paolo Di Febbo, Mohamed H. Patent number: 12231220Abstract: A communications system may include a satellite and user equipment (UE) devices. When the UE devices have uplink (UL) packets to transmit, each UE device may randomly select a time slot within a finite time window associated with a time reference of the satellite. The UE device may identify a path length between itself and the satellite and may generate a timing advance based on the path length, the time reference, and the time slot. The satellite may begin to receive the UL packets within the time window and may search received signals over the time window to identify the UL packets. The satellite may recover data payloads from the identified UL packets and may pass the recovered data payloads up a protocol stack. By limiting the search to the time window, the satellite may correctly distinguish the UL packets while using a minimal amount of processing resources.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2021Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Matthew N. Patent number: 12228973Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a display. The display may have a flexible display layer covered by a protective display cover layer. The flexible display layer may be an organic light-emitting diode display layer or other layer with a flexible substrate. The flexible display layer may have a central region with peripheral edges. The central region may be rectangular, may be octagonal, or may have other shapes. Strip-shaped protrusions may extend along each of the peripheral edges of the central region. The strip-shaped protrusions may be bent to provide the protrusions with curved surface profiles. The display cover layer may have a cushion shape with bowed edges that overlap parts of the strip-shaped protrusions, may have curved inner and outer surfaces and/or planar surfaces, may have rounded corners with compound curvature, may have edges with curved surface profiles, and/or may have other configurations.Type: GrantFiled: October 17, 2023Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventor: Tyler S. Patent number: 12230224Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with a display. The display may be configured to display standard dynamic range image content and high dynamic range image content at the same time. The control circuitry may dynamically adjust an amount of headroom for the high dynamic range image content to avoid washing out the standard dynamic range image content. For example, the control circuitry may reduce the amount of headroom available for high dynamic range image content with high average pixel luminance levels and low screen coverage. The headroom may be increased as the average pixel luminance levels decrease and/or as screen coverage increases. Different high dynamic range images that are displayed at the same time may be assigned different amounts of headroom (e.g., different peak brightness levels) based on average pixel luminance values, screen coverage, whether or not the content is within an active window on the display, etc.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2023Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Elizabeth Pieri, Teun R Baar, Jackson K Roland

Patent number: 12230264Abstract: An example process includes while an electronic device is engaged in a communication session with external device(s): receiving, from a first user of the electronic device, input to invoke a first digital assistant; receiving, from the first user, a natural language input corresponding to a task; in accordance with invoking the first digital assistant, generating, by the first digital assistant, a prompt for further user input about the task; transmitting, to the external device(s), the prompt for further user input about the task; after transmitting the prompt for further user input, receiving, from an external device of the external device(s), a response to the prompt for further user input; initiating, by the first digital assistant, based on the response and information corresponding to the first user stored on the electronic device, the task; and transmitting, to the external device(s), an output indicative of the initiated task.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2022Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Rae L. Patent number: 12229307Abstract: The disclosed technology provides for secure storage and usage of data at an electronic device. A device may include a hardened data manager that securely stores data associated with users of the device and/or another device. An application that does not have access to the securely stored data can still use the securely stored data by requesting that another system process at the device perform operations on the securely stored data and/or one or more updates to the securely stored data. For example, an application can request rendering of an avatar of a user. A rendering engine, separate from the application, can obtain securely stored base data from the hardened data manager, obtain updates to the securely stored base data, and render the avatar using the updates to the securely stored base data, without exposing the securely stored base data to the application.Type: GrantFiled: February 1, 2022Date of Patent: February 18, 2025Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: Srinivas Vedula, Joel N.
