  • Patent number: 4751640
Abstract: An automated investment system for investment banks which allows their customers to invest idle funds, including odd amounts of funds, throughout the day is disclosed. The cash investment system disclosed is a data processing system which utilizes selected interest bearing and discounted securities and instruments traditionally sold by banks as the basis for a new interest bearing investment vehicle of varying maturities which can be purchased with an odd amount of funds, and without the need to interact with salespeople. The investments and underlying securities and instruments are stored in an inventory file maintained in the bank's data processing facility. A customer reviews the investments being offered on a given day through a terminal located at the customer's facility.

  • Patent number: 4237799
Abstract: Credit card operated, automated teller machines are located in the vestibule of a bank where they may be accessed during normal banking hours. During off hours, a partition system segregates the vestibule from the remainder of the bank. Off-hour access to the vestibule is advantageously controlled by a customer activated door lock operated by the credit card and reader located at the bank door. Thus, access to the vestibule and the automated teller machines are controlled by the customer's own credit card.

  • Patent number: 4088981
Abstract: The present invention relates to an automated data entry and display system. In this system a hand held photoelectric wand scans a document bearing alpha-numeric characters and reads these characters by generating electrical signals which correspond to the optical characteristics of the scanned information; the generated electrical signals are then input to a character recognition device where they are compared with stored reference characters and recognized; signals corresponding to the scanned alpha-numeric characters together with associated signals indicating acceptability or non-acceptability of each scanned character may then be transmitted to a display device where the acceptable and/or unacceptable scanned characters and designated diagnostic legends are displayed.
