    Abstract: A method of controlling a ventilator to provide spontaneous breathing support includes determining a target CO2 value, determining a support pressure, detecting a patient-generated spontaneous breath, and delivering ventilation gas to the patient based on the support pressure. A patient CO2 is then measured, along with measuring at least one of a patient breath rate and a breath volume. The patient CO2 is compared to the target CO2 value. The patient's respiratory drive is determined based on at least one of the patient breath rate and the breath volume. If elevated respiratory drive is detected, then the support pressure is adjusted accordingly. If elevated respiratory drive is not detected, then the target CO2 value is adjusted based on the measured patient CO2.

The vibration data can be particularly associated with certain components that are directly or indirectly impacted by a modification in process fluid flow characteristics or lubrication oil flow characteristics in the turbomachine due to various reasons such as process fluid flow disturbances, lubricating oil flow disturbances, and/or a change in turbomachine operational parameters. The fluid induced instability detection system detects abnormalities in the vibration data and provides an indication of one or more potential faults in the turbomachine.

    Abstract: A fracturing system includes a fracturing spool that mounts onto a wellhead assembly for injecting fracturing fluid into a well beneath the wellhead assembly. The fracturing system includes an isolation sleeve and fracturing spool. The isolation sleeve inserts in an axial bore of the fracturing spool, and has a lower end that extends into the wellhead to isolate and protect portions of the wellhead assembly from the fracturing fluid. A groove in an inner surface of the fracturing spool receives an annular seal for sealing between the isolation sleeve and fracturing spool. Injecting a viscous fluid into the groove energizes the seal, and blocks high pressure fracturing fluid from flowing between the isolation sleeve and fracturing spool.

    Abstract: A system and method for enhancing the determination of the blood pressure of a patient is disclosed. The system includes a wireless blood pressure sensing device that obtains blood pressure data from the patient and wirelessly transmits the data to a host system. The host system receives at least one other physiological parameter from the patient and can retrieve historical information about the patient. Based upon the blood pressure data, physiological parameter and historic data, the host system utilizes a multi-parameter algorithm to calculate a remote blood pressure reading. The blood pressure sensing device calculates a local blood pressure reading based upon the obtained blood pressure data. The host system communicates with the blood pressure sensing device to modify operation of the blood pressure sensing device based upon the at least one physiological parameter other than blood pressure, the historic patient information as well as the calculated remote reading.

    Abstract: A combustion system includes a combustion chamber, a plurality of fuel introduction locations in the combustion chamber where fuel and air are provided to the combustion chamber for combustion, a fluid flow control device associated with each fuel introduction location, each fluid flow control device being controllable to vary an amount of the air supplied to each fuel introduction location, a plurality of sensing devices configured to monitor a plurality of operational parameters of the combustion system, and a control unit configured to control each fluid flow control device to control the amount of air supplied at each fuel introduction location independent of the amount of air supplied at the other fuel introduction locations, and to control the amount of air provided to all other air introduction locations, in dependence upon at least one of the plurality of operational parameters to minimize excess air provided to the combustion chamber.
