Abstract: A method of obtaining and analyzing ECG data from a patient or group of patients is disclosed. The ECG data is obtained from the patient at an acquisition device. Once the ECG data is obtained, the ECG data is transmitted to an analysis server that is operated by an analysis provider and is located remote from the location of the acquisition device. Along with the ECG data, acquisition parameters are transmitted to the analysis server. At the analysis server, one of a plurality of algorithms is selected to analyze the ECG data. If an abnormality is detected, the patient information is directed to a healthcare provider who can then contact the patient to schedule an appointment. Based upon the referral, a referral fee can be transferred from the healthcare provider to the analysis provider. The patient can be prompted to provide additional information and selections that dictate the level of analysis generated.

Abstract: An infant care device that selectively controls the amount of visible light that is transmitted into the interior of an enclosure while allowing the transmission of light within certain wavelengths. The infant care device includes an enclosure that includes light dimmable technology that adjusts the transparency of the enclosure based upon control signals from a primary controller. The primary controller is able to cycle between day/night on a manual or automatic basis to selectively control the amount of light that reaches the infant patient. The light dimming technology used on the enclosure allows the transmission of light within a phototherapy wavelength spectrum. The controller thus controls the transparency of the enclosure to at least partially reduce or increase the light reaching the infant while allowing phototherapy.

Abstract: A system and method to reduce and manage patient monitoring alarms utilizing a longitudinal, analytics-based analysis. The method includes a patient monitoring system receiving monitored data from one or more patients and generating threshold alerts for each patient based upon alert thresholds in real time. The number of alert thresholds that occur over an analysis period is compared to an enhanced alert threshold. If the number and frequency of the threshold alerts violates an enhanced alert threshold, an enhanced indicator is generated on a display for the patient being monitored. The enhanced indicator can be generated for any one or multiple monitored data types from the patient and enhances the longitudinal monitoring of the patient over an analysis period. The enhanced indicator provides a visual indicator to the monitoring technician of the occurrence of a higher than desired number of threshold alerts over the analysis period.

Abstract: A system and method preserves raw vibration data for a physical event involving a transport vehicle such as a helicopter, plane, boat, car, or truck. The event may involve unexpected mechanical stresses on the vehicle. The system and method preserves raw vibration data for parts of the transport vehicle, such as from multiple points along the drive train. The preserved raw vibration data includes data from time prior to the physical event. In an embodiment, the system and method continuously detects vibration data, and stores the most recent vibration data in a circular memory buffer. The buffer is continually updated with the most current vibration data. When an event is automatically detected or manually triggered, the most recently saved vibration data is transferred from the buffer to permanent storage, along with vibration data obtained subsequent to the event. This allows for a more thorough post-event analysis.

Abstract: A method of monitoring depth of muscle relaxation of a patient includes applying a series of stimulations to a nerve of a patient and measuring muscle responses thereto. A maximal stimulus current, a supramaximal stimulus current, and/or a submaximal stimulus current are determined based on the muscle responses, wherein the maximal stimulus current is a current at which a maximal muscle response is produced from stimulating the nerve, the supramaximal stimulus current is greater than or equal to the maximal stimulus current, and the submaximal stimulus current is less than the maximal stimulus current. A first set of stimulations are applied to the nerve of the patient. Either the supramaximal stimulus current or the submaximal stimulus current are then selected for a subsequent series of stimulations based on the measured muscle responses to the first series of stimulations, and the subsequent series of stimulations are performed accordingly to monitor the patient's depth of muscle relation.

Abstract: A system and process for predicting the failure of a machine begins with the step of loading a slope signature library into the control system, in which the slope signature library correlates time-to-failure based on rates of change of one or more measured conditions. The process includes the steps of activating the machine, determining baseline measurements, and detecting an out-of-spec measurement. Once an out-of-spec measurement is made, the process includes the determination of the rate of change for the out-of-spec measurement. A slope signature is calculated based on the rate of change for the measured condition, which is compared against the slope signature library to determine a predicted time-to-failure based on the calculated slope signature, and outputting the predicted time-to-failure. The process can be used to modify the operation of the machine to extend the predicted time-to-failure.
