Abstract: Systems and methods for data analysis include determining medical events co-occurring within a time period from a patient record database. The medical events are grouped into sets of medical events such that a number of sets of medical events is minimized based upon medical event cardinality. Patterns from the sets of medical events are identified, using a processor, to provide relationships between the patterns and patient outcomes.

Abstract: Self-aligned pitch split techniques for metal wiring involving a hybrid (subtractive patterning/damascene) metallization approach are provided. In one aspect, a method for forming a metal wiring layer on a wafer includes the following steps. A copper layer is formed on the wafer. A patterned hardmask is formed on the copper layer. The copper layer is subtractively patterned using the patterned hardmask to form a plurality of first copper lines. Spacers are formed on opposite sides of the first copper lines. A planarizing dielectric material is deposited onto the wafer, filling spaces between the first copper lines. One or more trenches are etched in the planarizing dielectric material. The trenches are filled with copper to form a plurality of second copper lines that are self-aligned with the first copper lines. An electronic device is also provided.

Abstract: In accordance with one aspect of the present description, an indication that a communication failure reported in a predetermined time interval is more likely the result of a software failure than a hardware failure may be made if the number of communication links reporting a communication failure in the predetermined time interval exceeds a communication link failure threshold, and the number of communication link devices such as nodes or communication paths which have been implicated as causing a communication failure, exceeds an implicated device threshold. Other features and aspects may be realized, depending upon the particular application.

Abstract: A graph of tasks and people operated on are incrementally created as nodes in a social network. Task nodes may be created in the social network to represent one or more tasks. A people node in the social network may follow other people nodes and also follow the one or more task nodes, and have one or more tasks associated with the task nodes assigned to one or more people nodes. Projects are run in a self-organizing way by operating on a graph of tasks and people that evolves over the course of the project representing the current state and upon completion representing the entire project state and history including all work results, tasks and people who contributed.

Abstract: A parsing method and system. The method includes generating an n-gram model of a domain and computing a tf-idf frequency associated with n-grams of the n-gram model. A list including a frequently occurring group of n-grams based on the tf-idf frequency is generated. The frequently occurring group of n-grams is transmitted to a deep parser component and a deep parse output from the deep parser component is generated. The deep parse output is stored within a cache and a processor verifies if a specified text word sequence of the deep parse output is available in the cache.

The computing system receives a selection of a first work location of associated with a first skill. Abstract: A mechanism is provided for computing the frequency packets in network devices. Respective packets are associated with entities in a vector, where each of the entities is mapped to corresponding ones of the respective packets, and the entities correspond to computers. Upon a network device receiving the respective packets, a count is individually increased for the respective packets in the vector respectively mapped to the entities, and computing a matrix vector product of a matrix A and the vector. The matrix A is a product of at least a first matrix and a second matrix. The first matrix includes rows and columns where each of the rows has a single random location with a one value and remaining locations with zero values. The matrix vector product is transmitted to a centralized computer for aggregating with other matrix vector products.

Abstract: A memory cell and method for operating a memory cell including a bidirectional access device and memory element electrically coupled in series. The bidirectional access device includes a tunneling capacitance. The memory element programmable to a first and second state by application of a first and second write voltage opposite in polarity to one another. The memory element has a lower capacitance in the first state than the second state. A read unit senses a transient read current due to a voltage drop upon application of a read voltage. Determining if the memory element is the first or second state is based on whether the read current is greater or less than a sense threshold. The sense threshold is based on a capacitance ratio between the first and second state.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention relate to providing interoperability between hosts supporting multiple encapsulation. One embodiment includes a method that includes mapping packet encapsulation protocol type information for virtual switches. Each virtual switch is associated with one or more virtual machines (VMs). It is determined whether one or more common encapsulation protocol types exist for a first VM associated with a first virtual switch and a second VM associated with a second virtual switch based on the mapping. A common encapsulation protocol type is selected if it is determined that one or more common encapsulation protocol types exist for the first virtual switch and the second virtual switch. A packet is encapsulated for communication between the first VM and the second VM using the selected common encapsulation protocol type.

A secondary data source associated with the project is identified, the identifying based upon, at least in part, identifying an association of the one or more of the project identifiers with the secondary data source. Abstract: A method is provided to convert commercial microprocessors to radiation-hardened processors and, more particularly, a method is provided to modify a commercial microprocessor for radiation hardened applications with minimal changes to the technology, design, device, and process base so as to facilitate a rapid transition for such radiation hardened applications. The method is implemented in a computing infrastructure and includes evaluating a probability that one or more components of an existing commercial design will be affected by a single event upset (SEU). The method further includes replacing the one or more components with a component immune to the SEU to create a final device.

Abstract: Disclosed is a novel system and method to select software components. A set of available software components are accessed. Next, one or more dimensions are defined. Each dimension is an attribute to the set of available software components. A set of coherence distances between each pair of the available software components in the set of available software components is calculated for each of the dimensions that have been defined. Each of the coherence distances are combined between each pair of the available software components that has been calculated in the set of the coherence distances into an overall coherence degree for each of the available software components. Using the overall coherence degree, one or more software components are selected to be included in a software bundle.

The apparatus may further include a comparator in communication with the cross-correlation system. The comparator may be adapted to compare the cross-correlation to a threshold. The apparatus may also include an output transmitter, in communication with the comparator. The output transmitter may be able to output a comparison-result output that includes the results of the comparator comparison of the cross-correlation against a threshold.

Abstract: A disclosed method includes accessing one or more seeding specifications and a program including computer-readable code and applying the one or more seeding specifications to the program to identify for analysis seeds including strings for corresponding identified string variables. The method includes tracking flows emanating from the identified seeds. The tracking includes computing an integral offset into a tracked string variable for any statements causing such a computation. The tracking also includes providing a string representation based on the computed integral offset, wherein the provided string representation comprises a value of the integral offset and an indication of the corresponding tracked string variable. The tracking further includes modeling string manipulations of the tracked string variables using the string representations. Apparatus and program products are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method of forming a semiconductor device that includes forming a high-k gate dielectric layer on a semiconductor substrate, wherein an oxide containing interfacial layer can be present between the high-k gate dielectric layer and the semiconductor substrate. A scavenging metal stack may be formed on the high-k gate dielectric layer. An annealing process may be applied to the scavenging metal stack during which the scavenging metal stack removes oxide material from the oxide containing interfacial layer, wherein the oxide containing interfacial layer is thinned by removing of the oxide material. A gate conductor layer is formed on the high-k gate dielectric layer. The gate conductor layer and the high-k gate dielectric layer are then patterned to provide a gate structure. A source region and a drain region are then formed on opposing sides of the gate structure.

Abstract: Computer-implemented methods, computer program products and computer systems that create a virtual extended display on mobile devices by providing a first device in a first location and at least a second device in a second location, followed by joining together the first and second devices within an aggregation session via a network. Logical data of visual content is shared between the first and second devices, and the viewed output display of the visual content split amongst the first and second device displays within the aggregation session. During the aggregation session, at least one of the devices therein is manipulated by movement or changing device parameters to virtually change the viewed output display of the visual content on such manipulated device.

Abstract: Detecting fraud in the health care industry includes selecting a given focus scenario (e.g., prescription rate in a certain drug therapeutic class) for audit analysis, and constructing baseline models with the appropriate normalizations to describe the expected behavior within the focus area. These baseline models are then used, in conjunction with statistical hypothesis testing, to identify entities whose behavior diverges significantly from their expected behavior according to the baseline models. A Likelihood Ratio (LR) score over the relevant claims with respect to the baseline model is obtained for each entity, and the p-value significance of this score is evaluated to ensure that the abnormal behavior can be identified at the specified level of statistical significance. The approach may be used as part of a preliminary computer-aided audit process in which the relevant entities with the abnormal behavior are identified with high selectivity for a subsequent human-intensive audit investigation.

Abstract: Embodiments relate to a method, system, and computer program product for prefetching data on a chip. The chip has at least one scout core, multiple parent cores that cooperate together to execute various tasks, and a shared cache that is common between the scout core and the multiple parent cores. An aspect of the embodiments includes monitoring the multiple parent cores by the at least one scout core through the shared cache for a shared cache access occurring in a base parent core. The method includes saving a fetch address by the at least one scout core based on the shared cache access occurring. The fetch address indicates a location of a specific line of cache requested by the base parent core.

Embodiments include a parallel computer having a first compute node operatively coupled for data communications over a tree data communications network with a plurality of child compute nodes. The first compute rode, for each child compute node, receives from the child compute node, a result of the first collective operation performed by the child compute node. For each result received from a child compute node, the first compute node stores a timestamp indicating a time that the child compute node completed the first collective operation. The first compute node also manages, based on the stored timestamps, execution of a second collective operation over the tree data communications network.

In one aspect, a method for creating a three-dimensional temperature distribution model for a room having a floor and a ceiling is provided. The method includes the following steps. A ceiling temperature distribution in the room is determined. A floor temperature distribution in the room is determined. An interpolation between the ceiling temperature distribution and the floor temperature distribution is used to obtain the three-dimensional temperature distribution model for the room.

Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer program products for collective operation management in a parallel computer are provided. Embodiments include a parallel computer having a first compute node operatively coupled for data communications over a tree data communications network with a plurality of child compute nodes. Embodiments also include each child compute node performing a first collective operation. The first compute rode, for each child compute node, receives from the child compute node, a result of the first collective operation performed by the child compute node. In response to receiving at least one result, the first compute node reduces a power consumption level of the child compute node.

Further included, is a photon detection circuit for generating at least one high power image photon based on the emitted light signal of each pixel on the active display and a number of light emitting diodes (LEDs) associated with each of the detection diodes for generating an emitted light signal for each of the pixels of the incident ghost image for generating an image on the active display.

Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for bypassing as portion of content of a media. A history of skipped sections for a media is accumulated. Each portion of skipped content is detected during a display of the media. A reason is automatically determined for each portion of media content that is skipped based on a set of predefined criteria and resulting in a measured value for each portion of skipped content. Each portion of skipped content is tagged with the associated measured value. Information associated with the tagged portions of skipped content is shared across a social network for collaborative reuse. A determination is also made whether or not the previously skipped portion or media content exceeds a predetermined user display threshold. Responsive to a user-configurable policy for bypassing content, the content of the media is automatically displayed on a user device and content exceeding the predetermined display threshold is skipped.

The digital content is assigned a category based on a match of the plurality of topics displayed in the digital content. The digital content for the shared topic is then selectively shared with the participants of the groups.
