Abstract: A facility for processing a search query is described. The facility identifies one or more items that satisfy the query, at least one of which is a media sequence. For each identified media sequence, the facility identifies an advertising message based upon the contents of the query. In response to the query, the facility returns a search result that indicates the identified items. When one of the identified media sequences is selected in the search result, the selected media sequence is provided in conjunction with the advertising message identified for it.

Abstract: A distribution of a content selection being distributed throughout a wireless mesh network may be tracked. A wireless device in the wireless mesh network enables the content selection to be exchanged. Wireless devices then exchange the content, and a network topology is recorded in response. Finally, the network topology is reported to a reporting agent.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content providing, searching and/or hosting systems supported by or configured with devices, servers and/or platforms. The disclosed systems and methods provide a novel framework that provides an optimized ranking methodology for query suggestion and auto-completion tasks that messaging systems can implement and embed into their functionality. The disclosed framework can leverage the mail query logs on a personal level or on the aggregate (e.g., across all or a set of users on a network), and the mailbox content of each user to produce a comprehensive ranking function that generates ranked search suggestions for a mail search query for both person and company entities.

Abstract: An output apparatus according to the present application includes a prediction unit and an output unit. The prediction unit predicts whether or not waveform information having a predetermined context is generated on the basis of detection information detected by a predetermined detection device. The output unit outputs waveform information having an opposite phase to the waveform information having the predetermined context in a case where it has been predicted that the waveform information having the predetermined context is generated.

Abstract: Computerized systems and methods are disclosed for performing contextual classification of objects using supervised and unsupervised training. In accordance with one implementation, content reviewers may review training objects and submit supervised training data for preprocessing and analysis. The supervised training data may be preprocessed to identify key terms and phrases, such as by stemming, tokenization, or n-gram analysis, and form vectorized objects. The vectorized objects may be used to train one or more models for subsequent classification of objects. In certain implementations, preprocessing or training, among other steps, may be performed in parallel over multiple machines to improve efficiency. The disclosed systems and methods may be used in a wide variety of applications, such as article classification and content moderation.

Abstract: A location-aware search assist capability identifies location-aware search query suggestions using location information associated with the location-aware search query suggestions. A user's search query input and location and a location associated with each location-aware search query suggestion candidates may be used to identify a set of search query suggestions for presentation to the user. Location-aware search query suggestion candidates may be ranked in accordance with a closeness of each one's location to the user's location. The ranking may be performed using a score, such as a popularity score associated with each search query suggestion candidate. The location-aware search query suggestion candidates having a location closer to the user's location may be promoted by adjusting each candidate's popularity score upward, and the search query suggestion candidates that are farther away from the user's location may be demoted by adjusting each such candidate's popularity score downward.

Abstract: An estimation device according to the present application includes an acquiring unit and an estimation unit. The acquiring unit acquires user relationship information indicating a similarity relationship between a plurality of users. The estimation unit estimates, based on feeling information on a similar user who is similar to one of the users in the user relationship information acquired by the acquiring unit, a feeling of the one of the users.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for determining a quantity of network location visitors that are likely generated or encouraged by specific offline events. A corresponding number of leads may then be attributed to and associated with those specific events. Ongoing conversion activity of those visitors may be tracked and associated with the offline events. Conversions of those visitors may be attributed entirely or partially to one or more specific offline events. The effectiveness of each offline may then be evaluated based on aggregate lead and conversion information.

Abstract: A method of generating congruous metadata is provided. The method includes receiving a similarity measure between at least two multimedia objects. Each multimedia object has associated metadata. If the at least two multimedia objects are similar based on the similarity measure and a similarity threshold, the associated metadata of each of the multimedia objects are compared. Then, based on the comparison of the associated metadata of each of the at least two multimedia objects, the method further includes generating congruous metadata. Metadata may be tags, for example.

Abstract: A method includes executing operations to generate a first enhancement function based on a parent-child link in a content hierarchy including a link between a parent node in a first level of the content hierarchy to a child node in a second level of the content hierarchy below the first level. A second enhancement function is generated based on a sibling link in the content hierarchy including a link between a sibling node in a third level of the content hierarchy and a sibling node in the third level of the content hierarchy sharing a common parent node with the first sibling node in a fourth level of the content hierarchy above the third level. A user content consumption metric is generated based on the first and second enhancement functions. A content list including a set of candidate content items ranked based on the user content consumption metric is generated.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for rendering augmented videos on mobile devices and computing environment with limited computational resources. The disclosed systems and methods provide a novel framework for performing automatic detection of surfaces in video frames resulting in the creation of a seamless in-video augmentation object experience for viewing users. The disclosed framework operates by leveraging available surfaces in digital content to show augmentation objects in compliance with various pre-established contextual and technical constraints. The disclosed framework evidences a streamlined, automatic and computationally efficient process(es) that modifies digital content at the surface level within the frames of the digital content based on the contextual and technical constraints, and the computational resources of the device augmented digital content is rendered on.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for associating a plurality of Internet-enabled devices with a common user profile for targeting Internet content or advertising. One method includes: receiving, from a plurality of Internet-enabled devices, a plurality of requests for electronic content or advertising; extracting, from each of the plurality of requests, a source IP address and a unique identifier associated with the respective Internet-enabled device; for each source IP address for which requests were received over a predetermined time period from a number of Internet-enabled devices below a threshold number of devices, identifying each possible pair of devices from which requests were received; and for each possible pair of devices, calculating a probability that the pair of devices are owned or operated by a common user.

Abstract: The present teaching generally relates to detecting providing pre-validated data buckets for online experiments. In a non-limiting embodiment, user activity data representing user activity for a first plurality of user identifiers may be obtained. A first set of values and a second values, representing first and second user engagement parameters, respectively, may be generated for each user identifier based on the user activity data. A first ranking and a second ranking may be determined for the first and second sets, respectively. A first exclusion range including a first number of values to be removed from the first and second sets may be determined. A homogenous value set may be generated by removing the first number of values from the first and second sets, where each value from the homogenous value set corresponds to a user identifier available to be placed in a data bucket for an online experiment.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for extracting content based on image analysis. A method may include receiving content including at least an image depicting a coupon; converting the received content into a larger image including the image depicting the coupon; determining, utilizing one or more neural networks, the image depicting the coupon within the larger image, wherein determining the image depicting the coupon comprises: segmenting a foreground bounding box including the image depicting the coupon from background image portions of the image; cropping the larger image based on the bounding box, wherein the cropped image consists of the image depicting the coupon; determining text included in the cropped image; and extracting information included in the coupon based on the determined text.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for assessing riskiness of a domain are provided. For example, a content request is received from a content provider service that hosts a website associated with a domain. The content request is evaluated to identify request features. Feature scores are assigned to the request features using labeled feature data. The feature scores are aggregated to generate a content request risk score corresponding to a riskiness of the content request corresponding to fraud, such as domain spoofing. The content request risk score along with other content request risk scores of content requests associated with the content provider service are aggregated to create a content provider risk score corresponding to a riskiness of the content provider service, such as a risk of the domain being fraudulent. The content provider risk score is used to either block or process the content request.

Abstract: A boarding intention determination device according to the present application includes an acquisition unit and a determination unit. The acquisition unit acquires a positional relationship between boarding position information representing a boarding spot for boarding a mobile object and user position information representing a current position of a user. The determination unit determines whether the user has an intention to board the mobile object based on the positional relationship that is acquired by the acquisition unit and behavior information representing behaviors of the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for improved web searching. In one implementation, suggested search queries am provided based on previous search queries and click data. A weighted bi-partite graph or index may be used to identify related search queries based on overlapping clicked URLs. According to a method, query-click log data of a search engine is processed to generate sets of suggested search queries, data corresponding to each suggested search query, and a set of clicked URLs related to each suggested search query. Additionally, or independently, methods may be provided for contextually correcting spelling errors within sets of suggested search queries using a contextual algorithm, and/or identifying and discarding sets of suggested search queries and URLs that lead to restricted material, such as restricted content and related URLs.

Content from the database may be selected based on the application of the selection rule. An electronic message may be provided to the first user identifying the future event, and the selected content may be provided to the first user.

A method is used for calculating the option value of maintaining the advertisement in the advertising space during one or more periods of time. One method includes: receiving, over a network, network traffic information from a network provider of the network; determining a threshold value for prefetch request fulfillment based on the received network traffic information; receiving, over the network, a plurality of prefetch requests from an application running on a mobile device connected to the network of the network provider; determining, for each prefetch request of the plurality of prefetch requests, a score for the prefetch request based on the received plurality of prefetch requests; and responding to, for each prefetch request of the plurality of prefetch requests, the prefetch request based on the determined threshold value and the determined score for the prefetch request.

For example, an input received from a user can be expanded to obtain an expanded user interest. Content items from a content source can be filtered based upon the expanded user interest to obtain a set of filtered content items. A push notification can be constructed to comprise one or more of the filtered content items from the set of filtered content items. The push notification can be sent to a client device of the user for display as a device alert notification. In an example, the filtered content items, within the push notification, may be ranked based upon a ranking metric.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for displaying a customized news stream. One method includes an operation for identifying dwell times spent by users while accessing a first plurality of items, each item belonging to one media type from a plurality of media types (e.g., news articles, videos, slide shows, etc.). In addition, the method includes operations for determining statistical parameters for each media type based on the identified dwell times, and for detecting a news corpus having a second plurality of items. A priority for each item in the news corpus is determined based on the media type of the item, the corresponding statistical parameters for the media type of the item, and the profile of a user. The news stream is sent to the user for presentation on a display, the news stream being sorted based on the priority of the items in the news corpus.

The disclosed systems and methods provide a novel messaging framework that automatically applies a multi-factor analysis technique to incoming and received messages in order to properly identify a message's type and category, which dictates the manner in which the message is displayed within a recipient's inbox. The disclosed framework operates on two levels: i) it determines whether a message is from a human or machine sender (H/M classification), and ii) it determines the messages category (MAGMA categorization).

One or more pruning operations may be performed in association with the training to generate a machine learning model with a sparse set of field weights associated with feature fields associated with features of the plurality of sets of auction information. Positive signal probabilities associated with a plurality of content items may be determined using the machine learning model based upon field weights, of the machine learning model, associated with the set of features. In another embodiment, a plurality of candidate advertisements are identified for presentation on a requested web page; for each candidate, an expected cost per time unit (eCPTU) of exposure is determined; one candidate advertisement is selected for presentation on the web page based on the eCPTU's; the web page is transmitted to a client device.

Abstract: Devices often receive content items to be saved for later presentation to a user. In some instances, the content of the message is analyzed to retrieve supplemental information from external data sources, such as a map to a location discussed in a message. However, such supplementing often fails to reflect the personal context of the content item to the user, who may not easily recall the associated personal context when the content item is later presented. Instead, for a content item to be saved, a device may evaluate personal data sources to identify the personal context of the content item to the user, and add personal context annotations to a content item record of the saved content item. Later, during a presentation of the content item to the user, the personal context annotations may be included as a reflection of the personal context of the content item to the user.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for processing electronic content, such as text, videos, and images. According to certain embodiments, user interactions with electronic content may be tracked over a plurality of modalities, such as web pages, email, mobile applications, and social media. The tracked user interactions may include copy/paste events, explicit user highlighting, social sharing, and user voting. Key passages of electronic content may be identified based on the tracked user interactions and ranked against one another. Ranking of passages may be based, for example, on a raw or normalized score for the identified key passages. Alternatively, the ranking of a passage may be based on a ratio of user interactions with the passage to total views of the electronic text containing the passage. One or more of the identified key passages (e.g., the highest ranked passages) may be published to one or more applications.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to recommending content by analyzing the streamed data. A request is received from a user requesting one or more recommendations from a set of items. A first distribution indicative of an interest distribution of the user in a plurality of topics is obtained. For each item, a second distribution indicative of a classification distribution of the item with respect to the plurality of topics is obtained. A score is estimated based on the first distribution and the second distribution, wherein the score indicates likelihood that the user is interested in the item. The scores associated with the set of items are ranked. The one or more recommendations are presented based on the ranked scores.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to ranking search content. In one example, a plurality of documents is received to be ranked with respect to a query. Features are extracted from the query and the plurality of documents. The plurality of documents is ranked based on a ranking model and the extracted features. The ranking model is derived to remove one or more documents from the plurality of documents that are less relevant to the query and order remaining documents based on their relevance to the query. The ordered remaining documents are provided as a search result with respect to the query.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to automatic formality classification and transformation of online text items. In one example, a request is received for determining a formality level of a text item in an online communication. One or more linguistic features are extracted from the text item. Contextual information with respect to the online communication is extracted. A formality level of the text item is determined based on the one or more linguistic features and the contextual information. The formality level represents a degree of formality of the text item. The formality level is provided as a response to the request.
