Abstract: The present teaching relates to a method, system, and programming for encrypted searching. One or more keywords are obtained from a user. A uniform resource locator (URL) is generated, wherein a portion of the URL includes the one or more keywords encrypted via a first key. The URL is transmitted to a search server. In response to a time-related criterion associated with the URL being satisfied, one or more search results are obtained from the server, and in response to the time-related criterion associated with the URL being violated, a search box is obtained in response to transmitting the URL.

Abstract: An information processing apparatus according to the present application includes an acquiring unit and a selecting unit. The acquiring unit acquires a plurality of pieces of second triple information hierarchized based on a conceptual system in a plurality of pieces of first triple information indicating a relationship about three types of elements and statistical information indicating the number of pieces of the first triple information associated with each of the plurality of pieces of the second triple information. The selecting unit selects, based on the statistical information acquired by the acquiring unit and based on a predetermined standard related to the statistical information, from among the plurality of pieces of the second triple information, a plurality of pieces of target triple information to be used for a clustering process.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for classifier validation are provided. A set of in-sample examples are partitioned into a reduced in-sample set and a remaining in-sample set. The reduced in-sample set is processed using a set of classifiers. A subset of classifiers are identified as having error counts, over the reduced in-sample set, below a threshold number of errors. A training procedure is executed to select a classifier having a minimum error rate over the set of in-sample examples. If the classifier is within the subset of classifiers, then an out-of-sample error bound is determined for the classifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for protecting user privacy in, for example, online advertising environments. The method includes receiving data related to a user in a first communication session between a host server and a client device, and generating a user profile associated with the user. The method further may include encrypting the user profile to produce encrypted user profile data and generating a decryption key for decrypting the encrypted user profile data. Thereafter, either the decryption key or a portion of the encrypted user profile data may be transmitted to the client device and then deleted from host server before ending the first communication session. The method further may include establishing a second communication session between the host server and the client device and retrieving the transmitted content. Then targeted advertising may be provided by decrypting the encrypted user profile data.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a method for creating one or more infographics, comprising: receiving and storing data associated with an individual or an entity, in a format according to a schema that includes at least two properties associated with the individual or entity; reading at least a portion of the data; determining which of the at least two properties in the schema do not have corresponding read data associated with the individual or entity; based on that determination, selecting an infographic definition from among a plurality of infographic definitions defining the appearance of at least a portion of an infographic; generating one or more infographics based on (i) the at least a portion of the data and (ii) the selected infographic definition; and providing the one or more generated infographics to an output device.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to tracking an event at a plurality of distributed servers. In one example, an event to be tracked is determined. A user associated with the event is identified. A script is generated to be embedded in a web page. The script triggers an event message when the user performs an online behavior related to the web page in accordance with the event. The event message triggered by the script is received. A tracing flag is determined from the event message. An instruction is provided to the plurality of distributed servers for executing one or more applications based on the event and the tracing flag.

Abstract: Methods and devices for assessing the quality of user-generated content are described. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed for measuring the quality of a user-generated answer to a question by combining various factors, including question-answer surface word vector similarity, question-answer explicit semantic analysis vector similarity, answer-answer explicit sematic analysis vector similarity, query performance predictor, sentiment analysis, textual analysis of the answer, and reputation of the answerer. The method uses a learning procedure to determine the best algorithm for measuring the overall quality of the answer based on these factors.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to online user profiling. In one example, content associated with a first user of a social media network is obtained. From the content associated with the first user, a first link to a first piece of content is identified. A second user of the social media network associated with the first user is determined in the context of the social media network. From content associated with the second user of the social media network, a second link to a second piece of content is identified. The first and second pieces of content are retrieved based on the first and second links, respectively. User profile of the first user is generated based, at least in part, on the first and second pieces of content.

Abstract: The extraction device according to the present application includes an acquisition unit and an extraction unit. The acquisition unit acquires behavior histories of users being candidates to whom content is to be distributed. The extraction unit extracts target users expected to perform specified behavior, based on a behavior history designated by a content provider, of the behavior histories acquired by the acquisition unit. For example, the extraction unit uses a model for determining the degree of similarity between a user performing the specified behavior and a target user expected to perform specified behavior based on the behavior history designated by the content provider in order to extract the target users.

Abstract: A method and system for recommending content to a user whose interest(s) has not been identified is disclosed. A base user profile may be created for association with the user. The base user profile may be created by generating a list of ranked interests of a set of representative users. The list of ranked interests may be generated based on activity information obtained for the set of representative users. Content may be recommended to the user based on the base user profile.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer-readable media are disclosed for dynamic partitioning in distributed computing environments. One method includes: receiving a first data set and a second data set; mapping the first data set into a first set of key-value pairs; mapping the second data set into a second set of key-value pairs; estimating, using a sketch, a frequency count for each key based on the first set of key-value pairs and the second set of key-value pairs; determining whether the estimated frequency count for each key is greater than or equal to a predetermined threshold; and partitioning the key when the estimated frequency count for the key is greater than or equal to the predetermined threshold.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method for allocation-free control of online campaigns for distributing online content includes receiving a daily content distribution spending budget and one or more response functions, calculating one or more plant gain estimates based on the one or more response functions, calculating a marginal content distribution spending budget based on the daily content distribution spending budget, generating one or more control signals based on the calculated marginal budget and the calculated one or more plant gain estimates, generating a price control signal based on the generated one or more control signals, and calculating a bid for one or more impressions based on the price control signal.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are disclosed for predicting potential effectiveness of query-triggered internet advertisements received from different web page publishers using a deep learning neural network language model for clustering queries, and for automatically adjusting bids for advertisements by advertisers based on the predicted potential effectiveness. Using query-clusters rather than queries for adjusting bids for advertisements allows for more accurate and more consistent bidding strategy despite of sparsity in historical advertisement performance data, higher return on investments for the advertisers, and higher revenue for the publishers of the advertisements.

Abstract: A system and method are directed towards providing non-requested content to a mobile terminal based on characteristics of, and tracked usage of the mobile terminal to request content through an online portal service, which provides access to content in multiple subject areas. A mobile user profile is created from the characteristics and patterns of the tracked usage. The tracked usage information includes the time, location, frequency at which the content was requested. Based on the mobile user profile information, content related to previously requested content is provided to the mobile terminal upon a trigger that is related to the requested content. The trigger event may include the mobile terminal returning to a location from which certain content was previously requested. The non-requested content may further be based on a related general user profile that indicates usage of an alternate electronic device to access content through the portal.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes systems and methods for email management that leverages information derived from a sender's message activity with particular recipients in order to automatically format subsequent messages to those recipients according to the derived information. The present disclosure describes determining message templates associated with messages sent to repetitive recipients, and applying those determined templates upon composition of subsequent messages to the same recipients. Message templates comprise information associated with a message's settings, layout, message content, content type(s), a message type and the like. The determination of message templates and template information for application to messages being composed can be based on learned expressions and/or patterns from a sender's message activity or behavior.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for facilitating communications with service providers using disposable email addresses (DEAs) are provided. A first email, associated with a requested service, may be received from an email account. A set of service providers may be determined based upon the requested service. A DEA corresponding to the email account may be generated. A second email, comprising an indication of the DEA, may be generated based upon the first email. The second email may be transmitted to a set of email accounts associated with the set of service providers. Emails received from the set of email accounts that are addressed to the DEA may be transmitted to the email account. Responsive to receiving a request to deactivate the DEA from a device associated with the email account and/or responsive to determining that the requested service is completed, the DEA may be deactivated.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for improving interactions with and between computers in content generating, searching, hosting and/or providing systems supported by or configured with personal computing devices, servers and/or platforms. The systems interact to identify and retrieve data within or across platforms, which can be used to improve the quality of data used in processing interactions between or among processors in such systems. The disclosed systems and methods automatically analyze a live streaming media file, and identify portions of the media that are highlights. The content classified as a highlight can be shared across social media platforms, and indexed for searching respective to attributes of the video content. The streaming and highlight media content is renderable in a novel, modified video player that enables variable playback speeds for how content is classified, and enables on-demand selections of specific content portions and adjustable rendering displays during streaming.

Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for identifying unique devices and/or unique users of a web-based system within constraints of an external application. In some embodiments the process comprises receiving request information from a client device at an application server, using such information to form a device fingerprint, and attempting to match the newly-formed fingerprint with exactly one fingerprint stored in a database of previously-formed fingerprints. Some embodiments utilize a two-stage Locality-Sensitive Hash query technique. The client device fingerprint may be converted into a series of LSH values which may be used to find a matching fingerprint. A first stage may query input LSH values against LSH values in a data store, and a second stage may query LSH values temporarily held in volatile memory, thereby minimizing network traffic and reducing a total process time.

Abstract: Systems and methods are for identifying online advertisements to display to a user based on historical user data collected across the user's use of a plurality of Internet devices. One method includes receiving, over a network, a request for an advertisement to display at a first device of the user, the request including a unique identifier stored on the user's first device; accessing, in a database, a demographic or browsing history information generated from the user's use of a second device, the demographic or browsing history information being stored in the database in relation to the unique identifier; and identifying, based on the demographic or browsing history information, an advertisement to display at the user's first device. The demographic or browsing history information is synchronized based on the unique identifier being stored on the user's first device and the user's second device.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for controlling an output device are provided. For example, features are extracted from data points of an object. A set of data points are identified from the data points based upon the set of data points having features corresponding to target features. Marker elements are assigned to the set of data points. A mapping structure is used to assign output indicators to the marker elements. The output device is controlled to provide output indicators assigned to marker elements as the marker elements become a current focus of the user navigation.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for implementing automated barriers and delays for communication are provided. Content generated by a user may be evaluated to classify the content before the content has been submitted for access by other users. A user interface is generated and populated with an activity for the user to perform based upon a classification of the content. The user may be restricted from submitting the content until successful performance of the activity. Upon determining that the user successfully performed the activity, the user may be provided with an option to submit the content. Otherwise, the user may be blocked from submitting the content.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to searching. In one example, a search query is received from a person. A plurality of search results are retrieved based on the search query. An intent of the person is estimated with respect to at least some of the plurality of search results. The estimated intent is what the person intends to do with respect to the at least some of the plurality of search results. The plurality of search results are provided based on the estimated intent of the person.

In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising receiving a stream of events, where each event comprises a header including an event type field and a timestamp. and identifying that the header of a given event in the stream of events includes at least one secondary event in a list of secondary identifiers included in the header. A flag is set in a distributed database for the at least one secondary event, then writing the given event to a table in the distributed database occurs, the table selected based on a respective event type field and timestamp associated with the given event. Deduplicating the given event and the at least one secondary event in response to a close of books (COB) signal occurs, after which writing at least one deduplicated event to a storage device occurs, the at least one deduplicated event selected from the group consisting of the given event and the at least one secondary event.

In a search session, a uniform resource locator (URL) is received, wherein a portion of the URL is encrypted via a first key. A second key associated with the first key is obtained. A determination is made regarding whether a time-related criterion associated with the second key is satisfied. In response to the time-related criterion being satisfied, the portion of the URL is decrypted based on the second key to obtain a keyword, one or more search results are obtained based on the keyword, and a webpage including the one or more search results to be provided to a user is generated.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods are provided. Event information associated with a plurality of events may be identified. The plurality of events may be associated with first entities corresponding to a first entity type and second entities associated with a second entity type. A first network profile associated with the first entities and the second entities may be generated based upon the event information. First representations associated with the first entities and second representations associated with the second entities may be generated based upon the first network profile. Clusters in the first representations and/or the second representations may be identified. One or more coalition networks associated with fraudulent activity may be identified based upon the clusters.

Abstract: The present teaching generally relates to removing perturbations from predictive scoring. In one embodiment, data representing a plurality of events detected by a content provider may be received, the data indicating a time that a corresponding event occurred and whether the corresponding event was fraudulent. First category data may be generated by grouping each event into one of a number of categories, each category being associated with a range of times. A first measure of risk for each category may be determined, where the first measure of risk indicates a likelihood that a future event occurring at a future time is fraudulent. Second category data may be generated by processing the first category data and a second measure of risk for each category may be determined. Measure data representing the second measure of risk for each category and the range of times associated with that category may be stored.

Abstract: Information is collected about a user, e.g., the user's interests, from the user's interaction with digital messaging content. Information collected about the user can be used to identify an interest of the user. The identified interest(s) can be used to select content to be presented to the user. By way of a non-limiting example, information collected in response to the user clicking on a link in an electronic mail, email, message can be used to identify one or more content items to be presented to the user. By way of yet another non-limiting example, the identified content item(s) can comprise advertising content, news articles, etc.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for video encoding are provided. For example, a video file may be segmented into at least a first portion and a second portion. The first portion may be analyzed to determine that the first portion is associated with a first level of complexity, and the second portion may be analyzed to determine that the second portion is associated with a second level of complexity. A first bitrate associated with the first level of complexity may be determined, and a second bitrate associated with the second level of complexity may be determined. The first portion may be encoded at the first bitrate to generate a first encoded portion, and the second portion may be encoded at the second bitrate to generate a second encoded portion. The first encoded portion and the second encoded portion may be assembled to generate an optimized video file.

Abstract: One or more systems and/or methods for providing related content associated with a multi-touch gesture to a user are provided. A multi-touch gesture (e.g., a pinch-in gesture, a pinch-out gesture, etc.) may be received through a user interface of a client device (e.g., smartphone, tablet, television, virtual wall, etc.) associated with a user. The multi-touch gesture may be evaluated to identify an area of interest of the user interface (e.g., a portion of user interface containing content of interest to the user). The area of interest may be evaluated to identify context (e.g., keywords, phrases, associated content, etc.) associated with the area of interest. A search of content may be performed based upon the context to identify related content (e.g., news articles, wide-area network search results, local device search results, etc.) associated with the context. The related content may be provided to the user through the client device.

Abstract: Systems and methods for personalization using image clouds to represent content. Image clouds can be used to identify initial user interest, present recommended content, present popular content, present search results, and present user profile information. Image clouds are interactive, allowing users to select images displayed in the image cloud, which can contribute to presenting more personalized content as well as updating a user's profile.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to personalized content recommendation. A webpage is contrasted for a user having a plurality of slots each of which is to be allocated with a content item. For each of the plurality of slots, a plurality of content items in a plurality of types of content are accessed. For each of the plurality of types of content, a personalized score is predicted for each content item in the type of content, wherein the personalized score is obtained based on a trained model trained. A recommended content item of the type of content is selected based on personalized scores. An overall recommended content item is selected and allocated to a slot based on criteria associated with the personalized scores of the recommended content items and a business rule. The webpage with the plurality of slots allocated with content items is provided to the user.

Abstract: The present teaching relates to providing interaction driven electronic social experience. In one example, a request is received, via the communication platform, for providing interaction driven electronic social experience to a user, with first information associated with a first content item that the user is accessing. Second information is obtained related to activity of the user with respect to the first content item. A portion of the first content item that the user is interested in is determined based on the second information. A second content item related to the portion of the first content item is obtained. The second content item is provided with third information indicating that the second content item is to be presented with respect to the portion of the first content item.

Abstract: Disclosed are systems and methods for generating search result data based on machine-encoded text generated by computer vision optical character recognition machine learning techniques performed on digital media. The disclosed systems and methods provide a novel framework for performing machine learning visual search or machine learning text extraction techniques on digital media in order to extract and analyze the data therein and further conduct search queries based on the extracted and analyzed data. The disclosed framework may leverage the aforementioned computer vision machine learning techniques in order to provide a user with relevant search results regarding objects and text detect in digital media captured on a user device.

Abstract: An authentication device management device includes a generating unit, a registration unit, a transmission unit, and a responding unit. The generating unit generates a pair of a first key to attach a signature with respect to an authentication result obtained by an authentication device that performs personal authentication of a user, and a second key to verify the signature attached to the first key. The registration unit registers, in association with each other, the key identifier that identifies the generated key pair and user identification information. The transmission unit transmits the first key generated by the generating unit to the authentication device used by the user. When the responding unit accepts a transmission request for the second key related to the authentication device in which the first key transmitted by the transmission unit has been set, the responding unit responds by instructing the authentication server to transmit the second key.

Abstract: Technologies for enhancing work scheduling of a big data framework. The technologies can include generating, in a database, configurable namespaces to be used by a work scheduling enhancement application to group together tasks of one or more big data clusters. The namespaces can be hierarchical. The technologies can also include linking in the database, by the application, related tasks with respective namespaces to categorize and group together the related tasks. The technologies can also include configuring, by the application, a display scheme for displaying error handling and root cause analysis of tasks of the one or more big data clusters. The technologies can also include generating or rendering, by the application, a GUI having a navigable hierarchal view for displaying the namespaces. The generation or rendering of the GUI can be based partially on the display scheme.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the present disclosure, a method is provided for advertising on a content-screened web page. The method includes receiving an impression request for a URL for which an advertising impression is desired; screening HTML content of a web page identified by the URL; generating a rating for the URL based on the HTML content of the web page; assigning the rating to the impression request; and serving an advertising impression on the web page based on the rating.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for determining whether requests for content are fraudulent are provided. A request for content may be received from a first device. A first user profile associated with the first device may be identified. The first user profile may comprise activity information associated with the first device, demographic information associated with the first device and/or interest information associated with the first device. A user profile database may be analyzed to identify a set of user profiles similar to the first user profile. A relevance score associated with the request for content may be generated based upon the resource, the set of user profiles and/or the first user profile. The relevance score may be compared with a threshold relevance to determine whether the request for content is fraudulent.

Abstract: One or more computing devices, systems, and/or methods for generating a list of suggested queries associated with one or more keywords are provided. For example, one or more keywords may be received via a search interface. A plurality of queries associated with the one or more keywords may be determined based upon the one or more keywords and a historical query database. A plurality of relationship scores associated with the plurality of queries may be generated based upon a plurality of search sessions associated with the historical query database. The historical query database may be analyzed to determine a plurality of click rates associated with the plurality of queries. A list of suggested queries may be generated based upon the plurality of relationship scores and the plurality of click rates.

Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards automatically learning user behavioral patterns when interacting with messages and based on the learned patterns, suggesting one or more predicted actions that a user might take in response to receiving subsequent message. One or more classifiers are trained and employed to predict one or more actions that a user might take in response to receiving the message. In one embodiment, the one or more predicted actions are provided suggested to the user as an action the user might take on the message. Messages may be rank ordered within a given suggested action based on a confidence level of the prediction.

Abstract: One or more methods and/or techniques for providing a personalized future event notification to a user are provided herein. A content item (e.g., a news article, a social network post, etc.) may be evaluated utilizing a future event detection model to identify a future event (e.g., a festival). The future event detection model may have been trained to identify future events based upon part of speech analysis and entity recognition analysis of text within content items. In an example, the future event detection model may be used to identify locational features, temporal features, and/or entities from the content item. A user having a user interest in the future event above an interest threshold may be identified based upon user identifying information (e.g., a social network profile) being indicative of user interest in the future event. A personalized future event notification of the future event may be provided to the user.
