  • Patent number: 5077950
Abstract: A simulated windowpane molding is achieved by inner and outer elongated members adapted to be placed in facing relationship upon opposite sides of a windowglass. Each elongated member has a flat surface adapted to fit flush against the windowglass. Magnetic holding structure in the form of a strip of plastic material containing a ferromagnetic powder, or a series of permanent magnets in bar form is disposed upon the flat surface of at least one elongated member. The flat surface of the other elongated member is either equipped with the same magnetic holding structure or material, such as iron, which is attracted by a magnet. When the two elongated members are brought into facing, mirror-image juxtaposition upon an intervening windowglass, the force of attraction between the two members is sufficient to cause the members to be securely positioned upon the windowglass.

  • Patent number: 5032139
Abstract: A process for decorating an article using a sublimation process includes the step of preparing a cover sheet having at least two superposed layers of plastic material, one of which is substantially transparent and the other which is opaque. A carrier sheet is prepared carrying a motif in the form of sublimable coloring agents. The carrier sheet is applied to the opaque layer of the cover sheet and a sublimation transfer process is effected by which the motif in the carrier sheet is transferred to the opaque layer of the cover sheet such that the coloring agents migrate into and beyond the opaque layer. Finally, the process involves applying the cover sheet to the article such that the opaque side of the cover sheet faces the article so that an observer views the motif through the transparent layer.

  • Patent number: 4998156
Abstract: The present invention is a complementary-symmetry COMFET pair consisting of an N-channel lateral COMFET and a P-channel lateral COMFET interconnected in parallel on the same chip. The device is formed in a layer of single-crystalline silicon of one conductivity type with one of the pair of COMFETs being formed directly in this layer. A well of opposite conductivity type is disposed in the layer and the other of the pair of COMFETs is disposed in the well. The two COMFETs are isolated from each other by a highly doped region which extends from the surface of the layer to the substrate and is of the same conductivity type as that of the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4905198
Abstract: A semiconductor integrated circuit device which constitutes a dynamic RAM has an automatic refresh circuit that contains a refresh timer circuit. The refresh timer circuit has a program element such as a fuse element. The program element is programmed depending upon the data holding characteristics of the dynamic memory cells. Therefore, the refresh period is changed depending upon the characteristics of the dynamic memory cells. According to this construction, the refresh period changes and, as a result, any undesired refresh operation is prevented from being executed, making it possible to reduce the amount of electric power consumed by the circuit device.

  • Patent number: 4883259
Abstract: An apparatus for coupling a metallurgical ladle to a gas supply is presented wherein gas is used for the treatment of molten metal contained in the ladle. The gas is injected through the bottom of the ladle into the liquid metal. The ladle rests on a support located at a treatment station. The apparatus comprises a base mounted on the bottom of the ladle support in a manner as to be slidable in two directions at right angles to one another against the action of springs. The apparatus is provided with a male connection head which has an axial through passage that communicates with the gas supply. This apparatus also includes a foot fixed on the ladle which is provided with a female connection member for engagement on the connection head when the ladle is placed in its support.

  • Patent number: 4881679
Abstract: A method of manufacturing an externally clad tubular product employing a tubular host such as steel, including the steps of plating the external surface of the tubular host with a low melting point bonding metal alloy, assembling a tubular clad member, such as of nickel base alloy, over the plated tubular host, circumferentially welding one end of the cladding member to one end of the host member and welding the other ends in such a manner as to incorporate a metallic gas reservoir, thus forming a subassembly. The annular space formed in the subassembly between the interior of the cladding member and the exterior of the tubular host is evacuated of water vapor and oxygen. The evacuated subassembly is heated to about 1650.degree. to 2100.degree. F. thereby melting the bonding metal alloy, and the heated subassembly hot rolled to metallically bond the cladding member to the tubular host by means of the mechanism of liquid interface diffusion bonding.

  • Patent number: 4837568
Abstract: A remote access personnel identification system for tracking personnel in, or controlling access to a secured area in which an identification module includes a micro-computer chip is programmed with identifying information. The identification module is worn by personnel for interrogation by a remote field reading unit and includes a transmitter and receiver for two-way transfer of information to the portable hand held field reading unit. The system includes a central processing station in a master control center for programming each idenfication module with specific information regarding the personnel having access to the secured area. Information such as name, identification number, social security number, and descriptive characteristics are programmed into the module. The remote field reader unit allows the identification module to be interrogated at anytime, anywhere with a secured area. A security guard simply points and triggers a handgun to send an infra-red signal to interrogate the module.

  • Patent number: 4833676
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for testing for stuck open faults in integrated circuits (10) having a plurality of combinational logic devices (18, 20). The apparatus includes a chain or shift register stages (22), with each stage including at lest two latches (L1and L2). Provision (43) is made for interleaving the bits of an initialization test pattern (40) with the bits of a detection test pattern (42) prior to loading the resultant serial data stream into the shift register stages (22). Once loaded, the latches (L2) contain the initialization test pattern whereas the latches (L1) hold the detection test pattern. A multiplexer (52) is provided for selecting one of the outputs from the two latches (L1, L2) so that the initialization test pattern and then the detection test pattern can be quickly applied to the combinational logic so as to minimize hazards which could invalidate the test results.
