  • Patent number: 6494025
Abstract: A hydraulic system for a detachable implement such as draper platform for a combine utilizes a platform-mounted pump supplied with return oil from the existing reel drive motor. The system utilizes the existing combine hydraulic connection for the reel drive to supply oil to the draper belt drive motors. Oil from the combine powers the reel drive motor and then flows into a manifold block (mixing chamber) before entering the inlet of the draper belt drive pump. This pump is sized to provide sufficient oil flow to power the draper belt drive motors, arranged in series. Return oil from the belt drive motors is routed back to the manifold block where it can mix with incoming oil from the reel drive pump before returning to the combine reservoir or being recirculated to the belt drive motors. The hydraulic system avoids the need to equip the platform with a complete hydraulic system and avoids the need to modify the existing hydraulic system of the combine.

  • Patent number: 5481912
Abstract: A method and apparatus for dynamically balancing a rotary member by mass compensation in first and second correction planes on the rotary member, wherein in dependence on the rotary member mass, its mass moment of inertia, the measuring speed of rotation and the spacing of the correction planes from the measuring planes, measurement value vectors which are supplied by measuring sensors in the measuring planes are turned through angles which are obtained from a respective stored family of curves produced by means of test runs. Each family of curves represents phase shifts of the measurement vectors relative to the correction vectors in the correction planes in dependence on the rotary member mass, the mass moment of inertia, the speed of measuring rotation and the spacing of the rotary member or the correction plane from the measuring plane.

  • Patent number: 5412956
Abstract: A variable sized finger ring has a center shank member and first and second side shank members. Each side shank member is hinged at a first end portion to a respective end of the center shank member and a second end portion of each side shank member is hollow. An elongated sizing section extends in the hollow second end portions of the side shank members. The sizing section has a plurality of stops thereon for determining the circumferential size of the ring. A first end of the sizing section is secured within the hollow second end portion of the first side shank member and a second end of the sizing section is retained within the hollow second end portion of the second side shank member. The sizing section is movable to locate one of the plurality of stops in position against a fixed part of the hollow second end portion of the second side shank member, thus fixing the circumferential size of the ring.

  • Patent number: 5400593
Abstract: An apparatus and method suitable in controlling a level of noxious fumes and visible smoke discharging from diesel engine exhaust gases. In a purification mode, a stream of relatively dirty exhaust gases and discharged cooling liquid from the engine are mixed together; liquid entrained in the mixture and particulate matter in the mixture are then removed and noxious substances in the resulting exhaust gases are adsorbed. In a regeneration mode, the exhaust gas is relatively clean so that streams are kept apart to avoid mixing so that the exhaust gases can adsorb the previously adsorbed noxious substances. The purification mode arises when the marine diesel engine is running at slow speed and combustion takes place inefficiently. The regeneration mode arises when the marine engine is running at high speed and combustion takes place efficiently or else noxious substances have been adsorbed substantially to capacity.

  • Patent number: 5085240
Abstract: A shelter structure comprising a supporting framework which includes a pair of spaced apart base members, each base member comprising a plurality of stationary receptacles. A plurality of ribs extend between the base members and have end portions removably mounted to respective stationary receptacles of the base members to form a skeleton frame which is covered by a skin. • Patent number: 5065933
Abstract: A robotically controlled pick-uo to tool (11) is modified by connecting to it a load cell (26) that generates a signal indicative of stress on the pick-up tool. The pick-up tool is directed toward a chip (12) to be removed and movement is stopped when the load cell generates a first signal indicative of a first level of stress. In addition to stopping movement of the pick-up tool, the first signal actuates heating of the tool to a temperature sufficient to melt the solder (13) bonding the chip to the substrate (14). The melting of the solder bonds (13) results in a reduction of stress on the tool, which causes the load cell (26) to generate a signal indicative of the second level of stress. The second signal actuates the vacuum of the pick-up tool to cause adhesion of the chip to the pick-up tool and also initiates movement of the pick-up tool so as remove the chip from the substrate.

  • Patent number: 4817423
Abstract: In the process of collecting data to be used in determining the capillary pressure of immiscible fluids in a porous rock sample, fluid is expelled from the sample by spinning a sample disk about its own center axis instead of centrifuging a core plug in the usual manner. The disk is contained in a cylindrical chamber whose dimensions are only slightly larger than those of the sample disk. A rotating shaft is connected to the center of the bottom face of the chamber and vessels are connected to the chamber about its periphery to collect the expelled fluid.
