Abstract: The invention provides a color copying machine or apparatus for forming chromatic images which irradiates an original with rays from a light source, focuses the reflection from the original as latent images on a photosensitive recording medium, and forms chromatic images corresponding to the latent images on a copy sheet. The apparatus includes supplementary exposing means for irradiating a specified region on the photosensitive recording medium with desirable chromatic light. Thus the color of images on the region is desirably changed to make the region conspicuous or inconspicuous.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for quickly masking defective memory elements with substitute memory elements includes first and second memory blocks. The first memory block includes a first memory array and a second spare memory array. The second memory block includes a second memory array and a first spare memory array. A first word from the first memory array is selected concurrently with a first substitute word from the first spare memory. An address signal is decoded and then compared with data representative of a defective word. In the event it is determined, as a result of this comparison, that the first word is defective, the first substitute word is then communicated to a common data bus. Alternatively, the first word is communicated to the common data bus.
Abstract: Apparatus for automatically tinning leads of components mounted on tapes to carry the components through solder wave stations have adjustments incorporated to permit tinning components of different sizes. Foam generators with independent foam rate adjustments are also provided to permit the adjusting foam height separately for each component lead. Guards are used with the foam generators to select specific segments of each lead for fluxing. A vacuum port with a vertical heated connection leading to a vertically oriented heated collector insures that excess solder will not clog the collection systrem. A shield between the vacuum port and the solder wave prevents solder being ingested by the port.
Abstract: A thread guiding device in a sewing machine comprising a guide path for guiding an upper thread from a thread source to a needle and defined by a first thread guide, a pair of discs for releasably holding an upper thread, and a second thread guide formed by a spring hook of a thread tension spring member and an end portion of a take-up lever, the first and second thread guide and the thread tension spring member lying in a common plane to define a straight-line guide path.
Abstract: An apparatus for comminuting grass clippings and other waste material comprising an elongate cylindrical barrel, an extrusion screw mounted for rotation within said barrel, an inlet opening at one end of the barrel through which material to be comminuted is presented to the extrustion screw by feeding means, an end cap closing the end of said barrel and having a shaped inner surface corresponding the shape of a generally conical end portion of said extrusion screw, said end cap having a plurality of openings through which the comminuted material is forced by said extrusion screw, said openings being directed towards the line of contact between the end of the flight of said extrusion screw and the end of said barrel.
