  • Patent number: 6294482
Abstract: A method of forming an insulating layer pattern in a liquid crystal display which enables the formation of an insulating layer pattern on a substrate under a low temperature without the need of expensive equipment and complicated processes, wherein the formation speed of the insulating layer is accelerated. The method includes the steps of forming an organic thin layer containing silicon on an insulated substrate, exposing the thin layer to a gaseous ambience including, oxygen, generating a plurality of oxygen radicals and silicon radicals by applying ultraviolet rays to the thin layer using a mask having a predetermined pattern, forming an insulating layer by reacting the silicon radicals with the oxygen radicals, and defining an insulating layer pattern by removing a portion of the thin layer free of the ultraviolet rays.

  • Patent number: 5326523
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for manufacturing a plastic molded part. A plasticized plastic composition is fed to the open mold cavity defined between a lower and an upper mold half. At least one web and perhaps two webs of decorative material to be applied to the molded part extend across the mold cavity. The closing of the mold halves presses the plastic composition against the web or webs. There is at least one two-part clamping frame for resiliently holding the web of decorative material by clamping it outside the mold cavity, so that the web can slip with respect to the composition as the mold halves move together. One clamping frame half is developed with an immersion edge which defines a side edge of the mold cavity and with a cutting plane spaced from the immersion edge a distance sufficient that the frame half also serves as an ejector for the molded part from the mold cavity as the mold halves open apart.

  • Patent number: 5266937
Abstract: A method for writing data to an EPID display includes loading data for a line of pixels onto the grid lines of the EPID. Instead of writing that single line fully by enabling the associated cathode row with a logical "1" voltage for the time necessary to cause complete pigment particle migration, the associated cathode line and at least the next adjacent cathode line are enabled for a shorter duration than is required for fully writing the lines. The grid is then loaded with data corresponding to the next line of pixels and the set of cathode lines enabled is shifted by one line, such that at least one cathode line previously enabled is enabled for a subsequent time whereby particle migration for writing is made more complete where the grid data is constant from one row of pixels to the next.

  • Patent number: 5197183
Abstract: In a leadframe supporting a semiconductor device, the tiebar adjacent the mold gate is kinked, or cut and bent, to form a baffle shielding bond wires connecting the semiconductor device to the leadframe from damage by a jet of incoming molding compound. Whether kinked or cut/bent, the baffle extends out of the plane of the leadframe so as to be disposed more-or-less directly in front of the gate.
