  • Patent number: 6856788
Abstract: A wireless IC interconnect system and method facilitates interconnections between first and second IC locations via a wireless transmission medium; the IC locations may be on the same chip or on separate chips. A signal to be conveyed is modulated, and the modulated signal is capacitively coupled to the wireless transmission medium—preferably a properly terminated microstrip transmission line (MTL) or a coplanar waveguide (CPW). The modulated signal is capacitively coupled from the wireless medium to a receiver which demodulates the modulated signal and provides the demodulated signal to the second IC location. In a preferred embodiment, the wireless transmission system conveys numerous signals simultaneously, with the signals modulated and demodulated with multiple access algorithms such as code-division (CDMA) and/or frequency-division (FDMA) multiple access algorithms.

  • Patent number: 6823197
Abstract: A system and method for providing PBX-like functionality at a remote office location includes the capability of maintaining a network session with a mobile number associated with the remote worker once the worker terminates the remote office session. The system utilizes a remote office platform interposed between a data communications network and a conventional PBX switch (located either at a subscriber-based office location or within the communication network and shared by a number of different subscribers). A remotely located individual (such as a telecommuter) “logs in” to the remote office platform and, once the individual is authenticated, a graphical user interface (GUI) emulating a PBX station set is enabled at the remote employee's personal computer, the GUI including a field for entry of the user's mobile number.

  • Patent number: 6807415
Abstract: Disclosed is a mobile communication system including a mobile station and a server to communicate with the mobile station through a base station. The mobile station has: notification means for notifying data processing ability to the server beforehand; reception means for receiving a program and data from the server; and processing means for processing service information from the server using the program and data received from the server. The server has: storage means for storing the data processing ability from the mobile station; determination means for, according to the information stored in the storage means, determining whether the mobile station can process the service information or not; and transmission means for, when the result of the determination by the determination means is NO (negative), transmitting the program and data for processing the service information along with the service information to the mobile station.

  • Patent number: 6775531
Abstract: A subscriber unit of a time division multiple access (TDMA) radiotelephone system is, from a power consumption standpoint, reconfigured in each time slot of a TDMA frame to a power consumption tessellation in which subscriber unit circuit components not needed for communication signal processing in that time slot are powered down, and other components are powered up. Some circuit components are powered down by switching their power supply circuits. In order to minimize the extent of circuitry that must be provided to distribute power consumption control signals, other techniques (which utilize circuitry provided for other purposes), such as clock frequency control or power down commands, also are utilized to modify controlled circuit component power consumption without actually controlling power supply circuits.

  • Patent number: 6766177
Abstract: To resolve problems of communication between a mobile telephone provided with a smart-card reader and the circuits of a smart-card reader, it is planned to provide this mobile telephone with a fourth microprocessor designed to manage the communications of the mobile telephone with the smart card only. This fourth microprocessor then becomes, in competition with a SIM security circuit of the mobile telephone, a master of the microprocessor of the mobile telephone. To resolve the problem of competition resulting from the existence of these two master circuits, it is planned that one of the two will be called upon to execute a command and that it will execute this command if it falls within the commands that are executable by it. If this command is not executable by this first microprocessor, then it is transmitted to the microprocessor of the second master circuit so that this second master circuit executes it. By acting in this way, it is shown that it is very easy to update mobile telephones, even old models.

  • Patent number: 6763235
Abstract: A management server managing a fixed address of a mobile terminal, at least two dynamic addresses dynamically allotted to the mobile terminal when it exists in two service areas at one time. A host transmits a packet with the fixed address of the mobile terminal used as a header. If the mobile terminal exist in at least the two service areas (apart from other areas), it notifies a management server of the dynamic addresses of the two service areas in real time. If the packet is transmitted from the host and the two dynamic addresses are allotted to the mobile terminal, the management server transfers a packet with these two dynamic addresses used as a header.

  • Patent number: 6760570
Abstract: A waterproof bag system is described for enclosing a portable field radio that includes a transceiver, an antenna, a handset, and antenna and handset cables to join the antenna and handset to the transceiver. The bag system includes a flexible transceiver bag that has a continuous outer wall enclosing an interior transceiver chamber, a sealable transceiver access opening into the chamber, and sealable antenna and handset cable ports extending through said transceiver bag wall for which the antenna and handset can be connected to the transceiver without leakage. The transceiver bag also includes an antenna mount. The handset is separately enclosed by a flexible handset enclosure having an outer wall defining a handset chamber. A sealable cable opening extends through the handset wall. A section of the face of the handset bag is transparent, as is a section of the transceiver bag, permitting viewing of the interior of each bag.

  • Patent number: 6751488
Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus for operating the cover of a mobile device. The apparatus includes a cylindrical housing formed on one end of the device cover. The cylindrical housing accommodates an operating means. The cylindrical housing has a projection at its first side and is open at its second side. Two holding projections are integrated with a device body, have opposite holding recesses and rotatably support the cylindrical housing. A hinge shaft is connected to the output end of the operating means, the cam portion of which is inserted into one of the holding recesses. Elasticity means is situated in the holding recess into which the cam portion is inserted for exerting a predetermined amount of elastic force on the cam portion. A switch is formed on one side of the device body for applying an operating signal to the operating means.

  • Patent number: 6731934
Abstract: A wireless communications network, a home location register and a method are provided that have an improved signal strength arbitration scheme which can ensure that a mobile terminal is registered at the most appropriate mobile switching center. In particular, the home location register includes a database coupled to a processor capable of implementing a signal strength arbitration scheme that assigns a provisional quality value to a registration signal that was received from a mobile switching center which failed to include a quality parameter within the registration signal, wherein that mobile switching center may now be considered and possibly registered as the most appropriate mobile switching center to process a wireless call of a mobile terminal that broadcasted a registration access signal to a plurality of mobile switching centers.
