Abstract: A method at a sensor apparatus affixed to a transportation asset. The method includes calibrating the sensor apparatus by initiating a vertical impact at the transportation asset, measuring spring oscillation and creating a model of the transportation asset. The method further includes detecting, subsequent to the calibrating, an impact event at the sensor apparatus. The method further includes measuring spring oscillation due to the impact event at the sensor apparatus and using the measured spring oscillation in the model created during calibration to create a load mass estimate for the transportation asset.

The arm assembly has a first attachment portion connectable to a fluid-level sensor and a second attachment portion connected to the float. The arm assembly further has an articulating joint that permits relative movement between the float and the first attachment portion. A sensor attached to the float.
Abstract: A sensor module includes a sensor configured to detect a specific substance in a sample, a first channel, and a second channel The first channel supplies a first fluid as the sample to the sensor. The second channel supplies a second fluid different from the first fluid to the sensor. The second channel includes a second fluid buffer tank for holding the second fluid for a fixed time interval.
Abstract: A smoke detector includes detector mount that can define a cavity into which air can flow to a detector component of a detector body engaged with the detector mount. The detector mount can include a base, e.g., that defines a cavity into which air can flow and/or into which a portion of the detector body can extend, and an intermediate component that can removably engage with both the base and the detector body so the base is engaged with the detector body via the intermediate component. The intermediate component can include fins or other features to direct air flow in the cavity to one or more portions of the detector body.

Abstract: Automated systems and methods for obtaining of the concentration of impurities in a liquid ethylene oxide product stream are shown and described. The systems and methods employ remote injection and flash vaporization of small volumes of liquid ethylene oxide into a carrier gas to minimize polymerization of the ethylene oxide and accumulation of polymerized ethylene oxide. Ethylene oxide peaks are diverted from the gas chromatograph effluent detector to stabilize baseline signal errors and avoid errors in the calculation of an impurity with an adjacent retention time peak. The systems and methods may be used for feedback, feedforward, dynamic matrix, and/or model-based predictive control of ethylene oxide purity. The systems and methods reduce lag times and errors associated with relying on laboratory analyses to make process adjustments.

Abstract: An encoder includes a rotatable encoder disc. A clamp is fixed to the encoder disc to rotate therewith. The clamp includes an arcuately extending body presenting a radially inner face and arcuately spaced apart ends defining a gap therebetween. The inner face extends along a clamping path and engages a rotating component to secure the clamp to the rotating component to rotate therewith. The clamp includes an adjustment mechanism for modifying an arcuate extent of the gap by shifting the ends relative to one another and, in turn, modifying the clamping path. The body defines a radially extending cutout facilitating bending of the body in association with expansion or contraction of the gap and modification of the clamping path. The clamp includes a raised boss extending from a front face thereof. The boss presents a contact face spaced axially from the front face and fixedly engaging the encoder disc.
Abstract: A sensor assembly includes a mounting portion arranged to support a sensing device, a thermal shunt portion extending from the mounting portion, and a housing portion. Gas turbine engines having sensor assemblies and methods of making sensor assemblies are also described.
Abstract: A method includes identifying a plurality of measured strain gauge values of interest from a plurality of measured strain gauge values. The plurality of measured strain gauge values of interest corresponds to a plurality of temperature values of interest. The method further includes comparing the plurality of measured strain gauge values of interest to a plurality of expected strain gauge values of interest to determine a plurality of strain gauge correction values. The plurality of strain gauge correction values corresponds to the plurality of temperature values of interest. The method further includes correlating the plurality of strain gauge correction values to the plurality of temperature values of interest to determine a correction value-temperature relationship. The method also includes determining a corrected real-time strain gauge value by applying the correction value-temperature relationship to a real-time strain gauge value and a corresponding real-time temperature.
