Abstract: An inflatable mattress assembly having a peripheral frame disposed around an upper periphery of the mattress forming an upper tubular periphery that provides a contiguous support surface. The peripheral frame is secured along two seams so that it is flat, smooth, and immovable. The seam where the peripheral frame is connected to the side layer creates a circumferential, horizontal indentation or groove giving the mattress an appearance that mimics a traditional two-layered pillow-top mattress. The components of the inflatable mattress assembly are in fluid communication with each other.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a mattress retainer system for adjustable beds which includes a mattress-retention bracket housed within a pocket of a mattress accessible in an upward direction through an opening along a bottom edge of the mattress. The pocket is formed by attaching a separate piece of material along a bottom edge of the mattress at one or both of opposite head/foot ends thereof and permitting an overlying downwardly projecting portion of a peripheral covering of the mattress to remain free thereby defining the opening into the pocket.

Abstract: A pet bed which is configured from an upper fabric layer and lower fabric layer which are joined at a peripheral edge. The upper and lower fabric layers define the shape of the bedding product wherein a portion of the peripheral edge is selectively closeable to provide an opening for filling the bedding product with a chopped memory foam fill material. A plurality of barriers extend proximate the opening to the length of the upper and lower fabric layers and join the upper and lower fabric layers by, for example, sewing the barriers to them. The barrier layers are of a width approximately equal to the thickness of the bedding product once filled with said chopped memory foam fill material substantially preventing fill material migration between sub volumes created by said barriers.

Abstract: A portable diaper changing pad with a memory foam insert. The diaper changing pad comprises a mat with a panel having a body of memory foam as a cushion. The memory foam insert preferably comprises a raised head rest section. In one embodiment, the diaper changing pad further comprises two side section panels which may be folded over the middle panel. When the side section panels are folded over the middle panel, the diaper changing pad may be rolled and securely closed for easy storage and portability. The diaper changing pad preferably has a terry cloth cover. Other preferred embodiments include a nonskid bottom surface, a storage bag, and accessories, such as toys.

Abstract: A head positioning device comprising: (A) a head support that is configured for supporting a patient's head; and (B) a sliding joint that is connected to allow the head support to be moved about a virtual axis of rotation while the head support is supporting the patient's head, wherein the virtual axis of rotation is spaced apart from the sliding joint. The head positioning device may include a head restraint for maintaining the patient's head in a substantially fixed relation to the head support as the head support is moved about the virtual axis of rotation. In one embodiment, the head restraint comprises a hook member that is configured for hookedly engaging a curved portion of the patient's face.

Abstract: A bedsore reduction system for beds includes a generally rectangular base plate, a mattress support plate and a diagonal connecting plate extending between said base plate and said mattress support plate and pivotably connecting the opposite side edges of the base plate and the mattress support plate. An inflatable upper wedge-shaped air chamber having a generally triangular cross-sectional shape is positioned between the mattress support plate and the diagonal connecting plate and an inflatable lower wedge-shaped air chamber having a generally triangular cross-sectional shape is positioned between the base plate and the diagonal connecting plate. Finally, a controllable inflation device such as a set of air pumps is operatively connected to the upper and lower wedge-shaped air chambers for inflating and deflating them such that the mattress support plate is adjustable in the yaw orientation relative to horizontal thereby tilting a mattress supported on thereon for prevention of bedsores.

Abstract: A combined crib and playpen assembly includes a playpen body, a hanging bed, and a bassinet unit. The playpen body has a first bottom wall, and a first surrounding wall connected to and cooperating with the first bottom wall to define a first receiving space. The hanging bed is disposed removably within the first receiving space, and includes a second bottom wall spaced a part vertically from the first bottom wall, and a second surrounding wall connected to and cooperating with the second bottom wall to define a second receiving space. The bassinet unit includes a base plate disposed removably on the second bottom wall, and at least one bassinet member supported by the base plate and defining a third receiving space which is smaller than the second receiving space.

Abstract: A personal assistive device that can be installed onto a mattress, preferably a standard hospital bed mattress, to provide handles on the opposing sides of the mattress that may be grasped by a person getting into or out of the bed to ease the transition in or out, or by a person lying in the bed to reposition his or her body while remaining in the bed. The assistive device is a fabric construction that is adapted to be easily and removably installed onto directly over the sheet and other mattress coverings such as a mattress pad on a standard hospital bed mattress.

Abstract: A method for increasing the firmness of a pillowtop or any other soft mattress. The method includes providing a rectangular sheet of cotton fabric material having hook fasteners on one end and loop fasteners on an opposite end to attach the sheet of material around the mattress. The firmness of the mattress is increased by tightly wrapping the sheet of material around the mattress using the fasteners. The sheet of material is sized appropriately to fit entirely around the mattress with overlap. Preferably, the sheet of material is sized and manufactured for wrapping longitudinally around the mattress.

Abstract: A double high airbed having a central layer, upper coils extending from the central layer to a top sheet of the airbed, and lower coils extending from the central layer to the bottom sheet of the airbed. The central layer is formed of an upper middle layer and a lower middle layer. These two middle layers are welded together and extend the length and width of the airbed.

The surgical positioning apparatus supports a limb of a patient using a telescoping strut mounted on a spherical joint. Abstract: The present invention is directed to an apparatus suitable for securing bedding. The apparatus of the invention includes at least two complimentary generally U-shaped components having mating surfaces adapted to cooperate with one another to secure bedding placed therebetween and to form a pocket of the bedding, which can be suitable for receiving an infant. The apparatus of the invention further includes a mechanism for releasably securing the lower member and the upper member to each other, which can include a plurality of magnets having opposing polarities positioned along the mating surfaces of the U-shaped members to mate with a corresponding magnet.

Abstract: The present invention provides a patient support apparatus for use during a medical procedure. The patient support apparatus is configured to receive and support a body of a patient on a base member. The base member includes a top surface having a plurality of adjustable members, wherein each of the adjustable members is configured to support a different portion the body of the patient. A plurality of actuation mechanisms are operably connected to both the base member and one each of the plurality of adjustable members, such that each of the plurality of adjustable members is separately, selectively positionable with respect to the base member. A control device operably connected to the actuation mechanism to selectively control the position of each of the adjustable members and the corresponding body portions.

Abstract: An inflatable bed includes bottom and top sheet layers, a surrounding sheet that interconnects the peripheral ends of the bottom and top sheet layers and that cooperates with the bottom and top sheet layers to form a bed body which defines an air chamber, a plurality of spaced-apart tension members disposed within the air chamber, and an inner partition sheet spaced apart from and surrounded by the surrounding sheet. Each tension member has two ends connected respectively to the bottom and top sheet layers. The inner partition sheet is connected to the bottom and top sheet layers so as to divide the air chamber into first and second air chambers. The first air chamber is defined between the surrounding sheet and the inner partition sheet.
