  • Patent number: 5071036
Abstract: In this invention an extrusion aid comprises a strip of material which is desirably a low friction material such as a polymer, but nevertheless sufficiently rigid to deform the flexible wall of a tube containing paste or fluid contents, and the strip is provided with an elongate slot which is wider at its ends than intermediate its ends, and may terminate in part-circular walls. If the part-circular walls are spaced apart to accommodate the edges of a tube after extrusion takes place, the extrusion aid will be less likely to grip those edges and furthermore the aid will be easily positioned over the tube.

  • Patent number: 5058780
Abstract: A dosing system has a vessel for holding a fluid and a dosing device for dispensing a measured quantity of fluid from the vessel. The dosing device hermetically seals the vessel and has a valve with a fluid passage, a piston surrounding the valve and a cylinder housing surrounding the piston. The valve is positioned in a first position wherein fluid is gravity fed from the vessel to a chamber formed between a drive face of the piston and the cylinder housing. The valve can be reciprocated from the first position to a second position whereat the valve closes the inlet from the vessel to the chamber. The piston closes the passage within the valve when the valve is in the first position and opens the passage when the valve is moved to the second position to permit discharge of fluid from the chamber. When the valve moves to a third position, the drive face of the piston moves toward a shoulder of the cylinder housing to thereby pump the fluid from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 5058781
Abstract: In the caulking gun disclosed herein, the piston of a caulking cartridge is driven by axial movement of a exteriorly threaded tube which is, in turn, driven by a rotating ring gear which is interiorly threaded to mate with the tube. The threaded tube is longitudinally split so that it can collapse out of engagement with the threads on the ring gear. A tapered plug cooperates with an expandable bushing inside the tube so as to hold the tube in engagement with the threads in the ring gear when the plug is in a first postion but, when the plug is moved to a second position, the bushing allows the tube to collapse thereby releasing pressure from the piston and allowing quick retraction of the split tube to facilitate loading of a new caulking cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5054662
Abstract: The invention discloses a cap made of plastic material for containers holding liquids, which includes an essentially cylindrical main body and an element for dispensing the liquid. The dispensing element has an essentially round, flat upper part, hinged into the main body and a lower part in the shape of a socle having a partially cylindrical base surface which slides on a corresponding concave surface belonging to a main body. The contact between the cylindrical surface of the base and the concave surface of the main body insures the tightness. Moreover, around the opening of the concave surface of the cylindrical body there is a ring-shaped projection acting as a seal when the dispenser is in its open position. When the dispenser is closed, the ring-shaped projection matches a corresponding round indentation which is found in the base, so as to insure the tightness between the dispenser and the body of the cap, regardless of the position of the container.

  • Patent number: 5052594
Abstract: A container filling nozzle of rubber has a wide, substantially square, inlet opening and a cruciform outlet slit which, in the absence of external force, is maintained closed owing to the resilience of the rubber. In the zone of the slit, the internal surface of the nozzle wall is formed with protrusions which extend along both sides of each of the arms of the slit and constitute respective thickenings. The protrusions terminate short of the central ridge of the V-form lips of the nozzle. Thus, the lips have their outlet zones more rigid and yet retain the necessary flexibility, so that sealing of the slit is improved and yet the lips can open wide.

  • Patent number: 5050774
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing two components is disclosed which comprises a drum 10 in which a tube 20 is supported. A first piston 12 is arranged within the drum 10 and has an opening 22 through which the tube 20 extends. The opening is provided with a plug 80 which has an aperture also through which the tube 20 extends. The plug supports a blade 32 which bears on a second piston 40 arranged within the tube 22. The plug 80 is fixed relative to the piston 12 so that it and the blade 32 move with the piston 12. During movement of the piston 12 the blade 32 slices the tube 20 and bears against the second piston 40 so that the first piston 12 and the second piston 40 move in a fixed manner as a single unit. During movement of the pistons 12 and 40 the two components are dispensed from the drum 10 and the tube 22 in a particular ratio depended upon the volume displayed by movement of the pistons 12 and 40. The dispensed components can therefore be mixed together in the predetermined ratios.
