Abstract: An RF power amplifier is provided for use with wireless transmission systems such as cellular phones. An RF power amplifier includes direct drive amplifier circuitry operating in a push-pull scheme. The RF power amplifier includes a pair of switching devices driven by a pair of mutually coupled inductive devices. The inductive devices may be magnetically or capacitively coupled together. The RF power amplifier may be formed on a single integrated circuit and include an on-chip bypass capacitor. The RF power amplifier may utilize a voltage regulator for providing a regulated voltage source. The RF power amplifier may be provided using a dual oxide gate device resulting in an improved amplifier. The RF power amplifier may be packaged using flip chip technology and multi-layer ceramic chip carrier technology.
Abstract: An x-ray source (30, 80, 100) transmits a beam of x-rays through an examination region (E). A receiver (28, 82, 102), in an initial spatial orientation relative to the source (30, 80, 100), receives the beam and generates a view of image data indicative of the intensity of the beam received. A sensor, such as an accelerometer, detects motion in a selected portion of a mechanical structure (M) supporting the source (30, 80, 100) and the receiver (28, 82, 102). Upon detection of motion, the sensor generates a motion signal. In one embodiment, a first accelerometer (40, 90) is associated with the receiver (28, 82) and a second accelerometer (42, 88) is associated with the source (30, 80). A position calculator (58, 60) mathematically calculates a position of both the source and receiver based on the acceleration data generated by the accelerometers.

Abstract: A robotic cartridge picker (92) for a cartridge library (20) has picker fingers (84) for selecting engaging and disengaging a media cartridge (64), and an electronic device (180) carried thereon. A ribbon cable (182) supplies at least one of power and an electrical signal to the electronic device. The robotic picker is rotatably mounted on a mounting block (140). The mounting block has a chamber (188) wherein a portion of the ribbon cable is carried in a variable coiled configuration to accommodate rotation of the robot about an axis (100). The variable coiled configuration facilitates the ribbon cable having a first degree of coiling when the picker robot rotates to a first position and a second degree of coiling when the picker robot rotates to a second position.

Abstract: There is provided a system for dynamically resynchronizing a storage system made up of a plurality of mirrored logical volumes respectively divided into a plurality of mirrored logical data partitions in the event of a system failure. Immediately after the correction of the problem causing the failure, meals start to resynchronize the plurality of logical volumes but without waiting for the resynchronization to be completed; means access data from a data partition in one of said logical volumes. Then there are means for determining whether the portion of the logical volume containing the accessed partition has already been resynchronized, together with means responsive to these determining means for replacing the corresponding data in the other mirrored partitions in the logical volume with the accessed data, in the event that the portion of the logical volume has not been resynchronized.

Abstract: Image information is reproduced in respectively correspondence to monitors of different aspect ratios as in the NTSC system or HDTV system adaptive type. The image information recorded on a video disc is reproduced. An ID signal held in the video disc is detected. The aspect ratio of the image information to be generated is designated. Only when the aspect ratio indicated by the detected ID signal differs from the designated aspect ratio, the reproduced image information is converted into the image information of the designated aspect ratio. A standardized image signal is produced on the basis of the converted image information.

Abstract: A method for removal of solids in a water treatment system having multiple filters, each filter comprising an air backwash system and a water backwash system, comprising a series of steps to enable two filters to be in some stage of the backwash process at the same time thereby reducing the time the filter is out of service. The continuous cycling of the backwash method is characterized by a continuous cycle of backwashing that backwashes two filters simultaneously. The backwashing method requires three steps, an air-only backwash, an air/water bashwash and a water-only or rinse backwash. In this method, as one filter is at the water-only backwash stage, the backwash cycle of a second filter is started so that the second filter is air/water backwashed while the first filter is at the water-only backwashed stage.
