  • Patent number: 10785606
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a method for use in a network node comprises sending a control information message to at least one wireless device that is in idle mode. The message comprises a mapping that maps a quasi co-location (QCL) assumption to a multicast transmission or multicast channel. For example, in certain embodiments, the multicast transmission or multicast channel is associated with a temporary multicast group indicator (TMGI), and the mapping maps the QCL assumption to the TMGI. The control information message causes the at least one wireless device to use the QCL assumption to decode the multicast transmission or multicast channel while in idle mode.

  • Patent number: 10779186
Abstract: Various embodiments disclosed herein provide for a dynamic access slice pooling system with software defined network (SDN) controlled capabilities in a 5G wireless communications system. A radio access network device can have one or more slices instantiated on the device that facilitate various services being requested by user equipment devices. A slice can have one or more virtual network functions that are specialized for particular services. When a user equipment device requests a service, the service can be assigned to a slice based on the type of service being requested. If the type of slice associated with the service is not currently operational, the SDN controller on the radio access network device can instantiate a new slice with the virtual network functions selected for the service being requested.

  • Patent number: 10771374
Abstract: A physical layer chip of a first physical port of a network device receives a packet and sends a first time stamp and the packet to a Media Access Control (MAC) chip of the first physical port. The MAC chip of the first physical port adds the first time stamp to the packet and sends the packet. A MAC chip of a second physical port receives the packet, extracts the first time stamp of the packet, and sends the packet to a physical layer chip of the second physical port. The MAC chip of the second physical port receives a second time stamp of the packet. The network device calculates a processing delay for the packet. The processing delay is a value obtained by subtracting the first time stamp from the second time stamp.

  • Patent number: 10771208
Abstract: A primary transmitter of a multicast communication system transmits in-band backhaul to a relay transmitter using an LDM signal that also carries services to end-users. The relay transmitter processes received wireless signal to extract the in-band backhaul and re-transmits services obtained from the in-band backhaul in same or different frequency channel. The in-band backhaul may be transmitted in a high-capacity layer of the LDM signal carrying or in a separate timeslot. Transmitter-specific signature signals may be used for loopback and forward channel estimation at the relay transmitter. The in-band backhaul may also carry service data for devices in a different network.

  • Patent number: 10756785
Abstract: A radio network sub-tiles reference signals (RSs) within a set of resource elements (REs) such that each sub-tiled RS occupies less than a time and/or frequency and/or power extent of its respective RE. The set of REs are dispersed across both frequency bins and time slots according to a pre-defined grid; and transmitted. The user equipment (UE) uses that pre-defined grid to locate within that transmission the set of dispersed REs. The UE accumulates and combines at least one subset of the sub-tiled RSs and estimates therefrom a quality; then reports uplink an indication of that estimated quality. Examples of the RSs include channel state information RSs, beam RSs and beam refinement RSs. Advantages are particularly relevant for 5G new radio systems.
