The press roller includes: a main shaft with a central axis; at least one hollow rubber roller detachably sleeving the main shaft; and at least one pair of fixing clamp rings arranged on two sides of the hollow rubber roller along the central axis so as to fix the position of the hollow rubber roller on the main shaft along the central axis, where an outer diameter of the fixing clamp ring is less than that of the hollow rubber roller.

The belt support structure includes a plurality of longitudinal, narrow support beams positioned spaced apart from one another and parallel to one another in a transport direction of the belt to define a flat support plane for the belt. The support beams provides a relatively small contact area with the belt, which results in low friction. The support beams further allow for a relatively large open area between them to achieve a low air resistance.

The system generally includes an optical imaging system for acquiring an image of a sample of particles, a processor for analyzing the image, identifying a target particle in the image, and determining the lateral position of the target particle in the sample of particles; and a vacuum-based probe system including a moveable probe and a vacuum pump configured to apply a vacuum up through the probe. The processor provides instructions for moving the probe to the lateral position of the target particle, and instructions to apply a vacuum up through the probe such that the target particle is pulled away from the sample of particles and held against the tip of the moveable probe. Once the probe collects and holds a target particle against the tip thereof, the probe can be moved to relocated the target particle to a precise new location, such as on to a particle retrieval tray.

The optical subsystem is configured to receive the laser beam and to generate an optical signal comprised of electromagnetic radiation sufficient to melt or sinter the powdered material. The optical subsystem uses a digitally controlled mask configured to pattern the optical signal as needed to melt select portions of a layer of the powdered material to form a layer of a 3D part. A power supply and at least one processor are also included for generating a plurality of different power density levels selectable based on a specific material composition, absorptivity and diameter of the powder particles, and a known thickness of the powder bed. The powdered material is used to form the 3D part in a sequential layer-by-layer process.
