Abstract: A medical bed horizontal driving mechanism includes a bracket, a drum, an electric motor, and a position sensor. The bracket is configured to be fixedly connected to a bed frame of a medical bed. The drum is rotatably connected to the bracket. The drum is rotatable to drive a bed board of the medical bed to move relative to the bed frame. The electric motor is arranged in a cavity of the drum. A housing of the electric motor is fixedly connected to the bracket. An output shaft of the electric motor is connected to the drum to drive the drum to rotate relative to the bracket. The position sensor is arranged in the cavity of the drum. The position sensor can detect a rotational position of the drum and generate a position signal, which is used to control the electric motor.

Abstract: A surgical frame and method for use thereof is provided. The surgical frame is capable of reconfiguration before, during, or after surgery. The surgical frame includes a main beam that can be rotated, raised/lowered, and tilted upwardly/downwardly to afford positioning and repositioning of a patient supported thereon. The main beam is capable of be reconfigured between a left configuration and a right configuration to support the patient in different positions thereon.

Abstract: A sleeping device including an inclined mat or an inclination segment under a mat positionable under a baby for sleep. The inclined mat or the inclination segment includes a top surface area, a bottom surface area, and a thickness area lying therebetween. The bottom surface area is configured to lie against a sleeping surface and the top surface area is configured to lie against a baby. The top surface area of the inclined mat or the inclination segment includes an elevated surface, a downwardly surface, and a lower surface configured to receive a back of the head of the baby. The downwardly surface is configured to support a side of the head of the baby lying toward the downwardly surface to prevent the head from turning to a position wherein the side of the head lies planar with the sleeping surface.

Abstract: A system for adjusting the firmness of a substrate configured to support a subject includes a first rod configured to be movable by a mechanism, a second rod parallel to and spaced from the first rod a distance that spans a majority of a dimension of the substrate, and flexible straps extending between the first rod and the second rod and attached to the first rod and the second rod at respective ends of each flexible strap. The mechanism is configured to move the first rod in a first direction to increase tension on the flexible straps and move the first rod in a second direction to decrease tension on the flexible straps. The mechanism can be manually operated by the subject or can be a motor that is controlled by a controller.

Abstract: A patient transfer device for transferring a patient placed on a movable sheet from a first surface to a receiving surface, said patient transfer device including first and second laterally spaced apart retractable pulling members, at least one motor operatively connected to the pulling members so as to allow retraction of the pulling members by means of the motor, where the pulling members comprise a bobbin and a wire, where the patient transfer device comprises an absorbent member removably arranged around the wire. Accordingly, the wire may be cleaned in a reliable manner.

Abstract: A patient positioning system comprising a wedge comprising a wedge body and a plurality of sensors coupled to the wedge body, wherein the wedge body is configured to deform in response to a pressure applied to the wedge body, the plurality of sensors coupled to the wedge body, wherein the plurality of sensors are configured to sense pressure applied to the wedge body.

Abstract: A sheet holding arrangement for holding a sheet when transferring a patient placed on the sheet, comprising at least two knobs and at least two holder elements, where the sheet is held between the knobs and holder elements when connected to each other, where the holder element is provided with an opening adapted to allow insertion of the knob through the opening, where the sheet holding arrangement is connectable to a pulling arrangement, where the sheet holding arrangement comprises a connecting member provided with at least two knobs and where the stem comprises a circumferential groove having a shape that corresponds to a semi-circular end section of the holder element, such that the sheet is held between the groove and the semi-circular end section when the holder element is connected to the knob.

Abstract: A foundation for a bed system can include an actuator, a deck mechanism operably related to the actuator so as to be actuated between raised and lowered positions in response to actuation by the actuator, and a controller operably connected to the actuator and configured to drive the actuator to actuate the deck mechanism between a lower position and an upper position. The deck mechanism can be configured to move to a service position that is further than the upper position. The deck mechanism can expose and permit access to a serviceable component when the deck mechanism is in the service position. A method of using a foundation having a service position is also described.

Abstract: A patient turning apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus comprises a reconfigurable support platform comprising a plurality of laterally extending support slats configured for pivotal movement about a longitudinally extending central region of the platform. At least one support slat is configured to follow a pivotal movement of a longitudinally adjacent support slat about the central region, through at least a portion of a pivotal range of movement of the longitudinally adjacent support slat. The apparatus further comprises means operable to control pivotal movement of at least one support slat of the platform about the central region.

Abstract: A proning device includes a conformable structure that adapts to the shape of a subject, surrounded by a shell that imparts a substantially elliptical cross-sectional shape to an exterior of the device to facilitate rotation of the subject within the device when the device is wrapped around the subject. A low-friction interface may also be provided to further facilitate rotation of the subject. The device advantageously reduces staffing needs for proning a subject while facilitating extended proning and periodic re-orientation of the subject. Also disclosed herein are methods for making and using such a proning device.

Abstract: A bassinet includes a main frame, a bassinet frame and a height adjusting assembly. The bassinet frame is detachably installed on the main frame and slidably installed on the main frame by a sliding track of the height adjusting assembly. The bassinet frame is vertically movable between a first position and a second position. When the bassinet frame is located at the first position, a supporting surface of the bassinet frame is located in close proximity to a top surface of the main frame, so that the bassinet provides an unhindered view of a child in the bassinet frame. The bassinet can be used as a normal bassinet when the bassinet frame is located at the second position. The main frame and the bassinet frame can be used as a standard play yard and a stand-alone bassinet when the bassinet frame is detached from the main frame.

Abstract: A patient transfer device includes a chamber formed by an upper layer coupled to a lower layer, the chamber configured to be inflated and supported by a support surface in contact with the lower layer. The patient transfer device further includes a port configured for connection to an air flow device. In various embodiments, the patient transfer device includes a low-friction sheet coupled to a bottom surface of the lower layer, wherein the low-friction sheet is configured to slide against itself to facilitate sliding of the chamber relative to the support surface. In other embodiments, the patient transfer device includes at least one air-expelling region disposed within a bottom surface of the lower layer, wherein the region is configured to expel air from within the first chamber along the bottom surface of the lower layer to facilitate sliding of the first chamber relative to the support surface.

Abstract: A child care apparatus includes a standing frame including a mounting portion, and a child support frame held on the standing frame via at least a first and a second hanging bar that are disposed at a same side of the child support frame, the first hanging bar having a first end portion pivotally connected with the mounting portion, and the second hanging bar having a second end portion pivotally connected with the mounting portion. Each of the first end portion and the second end portion is pivotally connected with the mounting portion at a position that is adjustable on the mounting portion.

Abstract: A prone position ventilation health bed includes a front bedstead pivotally connected with a rear bedstead. The frame includes two side bars and a front crossbar connecting the two side bars. Two parallel fixed bars are transversely mounted between the two side bars. A head and face support rack is transversely arranged and movable between the front crossbar and one of the two fixed bars. A left chest and abdomen support rack and a right chest and abdomen support rack are longitudinally arranged between the two fixed bars. The left chest and abdomen support rack and the right chest and abdomen support rack are parallel with each other and are movable between the two fixed bars. Thus, the user's head, face, chest, and abdomen are exposed outward without being pressed when the user is situated at the prone position.

Abstract: A patient positioning device facilitates the placement of a patient in the prone position on the bolsters of a medical table or bed more quickly. The patient positioning device facilitates the surgeon's removal of their arms from underneath the patient once the patient has been properly positioned in the prone position on the medical table or bed (e.g., without shifting the patient out of place). Additionally, the patient positioning device inhibits (e.g., prevents) the surgeon's arms from coming into contact with the patient's skin.

Abstract: A pillow position maintainer is provided. A harness is provided to affix to an object such as a chair or mattress. The harness has a loop and can have two adjustment straps. A hanger is provided with a shell and core. It also can have two fastener straps. The fastener strap(s) is removably connectable to the adjustment strap(s) and are connected to the shell. The position of the shell is adjustable with respect to the object via adjustment of the adjustment straps. The shell has a channel with a slot and a cavity. The channel is open to both ends of the shell. The inside of the cavity can have surfaces that are flat, such as a hexagon. The core is a compressible core. The core can be positioned inside a pillow case, and then be inserted into the cavity with the pillow case passing through the slot.

Abstract: A crib adapted for using alongside with a bed includes a frame body which has an upper frame, a lower frame adapted for standing on a ground, a plurality of supporters coupled between the upper frame and the lower frame, and a supporting frame which is supported on the supporters; a bed cover detachably coupled to the upper frame and supported by the supporting frame for defining a receiving cavity above the supporting frame; and a supporting unit coupled to the frame body for abutting a side of the bed to avoid or reduce a gap between the crib and the bed.

Abstract: In general a crib includes a first and second side that each have a first perimeter support having a bottom support portion, a first breathable material retained by the perimeter support, and a lateral support member that further supports the breathable material in a position within the perimeter support and attached to the perimeter support. The crib also includes third and fourth sides, wherein the first, second, third and fourth sides define an interior. The crib further includes a mattress support platform positioned in the interior and movable between a first position proximate the lateral support member and a second, lower position proximate the bottom portion of the perimeter support. The breathable material has an air permeability of between 385 CFM to 1530 CFM and a light permeability of between 47 and 99%.

Abstract: The present pull up push down bed rail includes first and second bases that engage a bed, upper and lower cross supports extending between the bases to be adjacent to a near side of the bed to close off any gap between the near side of the bed and the bed rail, and a U-shaped support member having end members that engage the bases. The bases include through openings for the end members that extend into and through the through openings such that the U-shaped support member is pushable down, after which the U-shaped support member is pullable up. Sheeting is engaged to the U-shaped support member.

Abstract: A bedding system comprising a bedding insert and a bedding cover is discussed herein. The bedding insert includes a first portion of a zipper that corresponds to a second portion of a zipper found in the bedding cover. The second zipper portion is disposed on an inside portion of the bedding cover near an edge of the bedding cover. The bedding cover further includes a front panel that is connected to a back panel. Also discussed herein, is bedding cover comprising one or more zipper portions disposed on an inside portion near one or more edges of the bedding cover. The bedding cover also includes a front panel and a back panel that is connected to the front panel.
