The roller and ring each have a shaft aperture that receives the shaft, and a keyway that receives the projecting portion of the key. The ring fits into the channels in the projecting portion of the key. When the keyways on the ring and roller are aligned, the roller is movable along the shaft. When the ring is aligned with one of the channels in the projecting portion of the key and rotated into the channel, the roller is axially locked on the shaft.

Alternatively, a change caused in the strip wedge due to a minute crossing of the axes of working rolls and backup rolls is calculated, and the quantities of leveling of a work-side rolling reduction cylinder device and a drive-side rolling reduction cylinder device are adjusted to make the strip edge equal to or smaller than a predetermined value. Accordingly, the bilateral asymmetry (strip wedge) of the thickness distribution of a rolled material is easily adjusted even in the event that the positions of the roll chocks in the rolling direction are changed due to wear on various components.

Because the mandrel jaws have a uniform cross sectional area, the wire, for example, can be wrapped multiple times around the mandrel jaw when it is desired to produce multiples of the same shape.     Abstract: A radial compression mechanism incorporates a plurality of compression die assemblies arranged radially about and forming a central cylindrical cavity. The die assemblies are coupled to a cam plate by a cam bearing retained in cam guide slots in the cam plate. The cam plate is configured to rotate about the central axis of the central cylindrical cavity and thereby rotate the plurality of compression dies about the central axis. The plurality of dies are constrained by a stationary guide slot configured in the housing of the radial compression mechanism and this stationary guide slot forces the compression dies to move radially inward to close the cylindrical cavity. Therefore, the compression dies both rotate about the central cylindrical cavity and move radially inward to close the cylindrical cavity. This arrangement and die displacement mechanism reduces the size or area required by the dies. Therefore the mechanism can be made smaller.

    Abstract: A cutting method using a stamping press according to the present disclosure is a method to cut a workpiece that is configured from a first metal sheet and a second metal sheet joined at a weld portion and that has a heat-affected zone around the weld portion, in which the workpiece is cut using a punch. The punch includes a flat portion and a projecting portion projected more toward the workpiece than a flat portion of the punch. The workpiece is positioned with respect to the punch at a position such that the projecting portion starts cutting at least at one out of the heat-affected zone or the weld portion before the flat portion cuts the workpiece. The workpiece is then cut by moving the punch and a die relative to each other in this state of positioning so as to shear across the weld portion on the workpiece.
