  • Patent number: 9844249
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a jewelry element which includes two layers—a cladding layer and a substrate layer, each layer being its own alloy. The cladding layer and the substrate layer each include a base metal such as silver or gold at the same percentages so that the resulting jewelry element can be labeled in accordance with one or more industry-wide requirements. The cladding layer is further enhanced by introduction of a metal providing additional hardness when included in the alloy. By limiting the “hardness” metal or metals to being deposed only in the cladding layer, less of the hardness metal need be used, thereby reducing cost yet retaining the requisite hardness characteristic. Each of the alloys may further contain other metals for any of a number of reasons, including but not limited to, tarnish resistance.

  • Patent number: 9802278
Abstract: A multi component braze filler alloy is described having a melting temperature less than about 1235 deg. C. and greater than about 1150 deg. C. This alloy can be processed by hot isostatic pressing (HIP) at a temperature above about 1065 deg. C. and is particularly suited for the repair of gas turbine blades and vanes, especially those made from Alloy 247. The relatively low Ti content in the present braze alloy tends to form less MC carbides at the joint interface, particularly in comparison with other braze alloys high in Zr and/or Hf. Processes for employing this braze filler alloy in processing of nickel-base superalloys, especially Alloy 247, are presented.

  • Patent number: 9797530
Abstract: A process for manufacturing a bellows, made of austenitic high-grade steel with high compressive strength and fatigue strength, forms a single-layer or multilayer sleeve into a bellows with hydraulic forming. The pressure resistance and fatigue strength are improved by the bellows being cleaned after the forming and by the bellows being exposed to a surrounding area containing carbon and/or nitrogen atoms at temperatures between 100° C. and 400° C., preferably 200° C. to 320° C. With this a hardening of the bellows takes place by means of the diffusing in of carbon and/or nitrogen atoms. A bellows made of austenitic high-grade steel with one or more layers created in this manner has the edge layer hardened by the incorporation of carbon and/or nitrogen atoms up to a hardening depth of at least 5% of the wall thickness.
