In an obstacle avoidance/target approach application, the controller may be configured to determine a teaching signal based on a sensory input, the teaching signal conveying information associated with target action consistent with the sensory input, the sensory input being indicative of the target/obstacle. The controller may be configured to determine a control signal based on the sensory input, the control signal conveying information associated with target approach/avoidance action. The controller may determine a predicted control signal based on the sensory input and the teaching signal, the predicted control conveying information associated with the target action. The control signal may be combined with the predicted control in order to cause the robotic apparatus to execute the target action.

  • Patent number: 8942850
Abstract: A method for handling of a first robotized mobile machine moving in a congested working environment under the control of a second robotized mobile machine, providing the operator, in real time, with a relevant view of the working scene, even if an object intrudes into the field of view of the camera and thereby obscures the operator's view. This method is based on use of properties of a physics engine of the constraint resolution type. For each object in the scene, the physics engine has a physical representation of said object in the form of a mesh. The engine calculates a wrench on the basis of the respective positions and velocities of two objects. In case of a collision between the manipulator and a fixed object in the scene, the engine determines the wrench to be applied to the manipulator in order to make it avoid the object.

  • Patent number: 8897918
Abstract: A robot hand has a plurality of fingers including a contact sensing finger that senses contact with an object. A base provided with the fingers detects a resultant reaction force that is the combination of reaction forces from the fingers. When no resultant reaction force is detected, the plurality of fingers are moved toward the object, and when the contact sensing finger comes into contact with the object, a force that drives the fingers is switched to a force corresponding to a grasp force. When the contact sensing finger has not come into contact with the object but a resultant reaction force is detected, the driving of the fingers is terminated and the position of the base is corrected by moving the base in a direction in which the resultant reaction force having acted thereon is not detected any more.
