  • Patent number: 9185627
Abstract: A wireless device that utilizes a single network interface to simultaneously connect to an infrastructure network and a mesh network. The device has a driver layer with a media access control module for each network type. A multiplexing module and transceiver module within the driver can direct received information associated with one of the networks to an appropriate media access control and then to an appropriate network adapter. For transmitted data, the multiplexing module can receive data from the application layer through an appropriate network adapter and route it to an appropriate media access control module for processing. The processed data can be interleaved by the transceiver for transmission.

  • Patent number: 9161355
Abstract: A method for transmitting a downlink signal in a wireless mobile communication system. The method according to one embodiment includes generating a resource indication value (RIV) indicating a start index (S) of consecutive virtual resource blocks (VRBs) and a length (L) of the consecutive VRBs; transmitting downlink control information including resource block allocation information. The downlink control information is common information for plural users, and the resource block allocation information includes the RIV. The method according to the embodiment further includes transmitting the downlink signal on the consecutive VRBs. If Y?1??X/2?, then the RIV is defined by RIV=X(Y?1)+Z, else the RIV is defined by RIV=X(X?Y+1)+(X?1?Z), where X=?NVRB/G?, Y=L/G, and Z=S/G, in which, L is the length of the consecutive VRBs, S is the start index of the consecutive VRBs, NVRB is the number of VRBs, L is a multiple of G, S is a multiple of G, and G is an integer of 2 or higher.

Abstract: A signaling protocol allows for speed frame exchange between different wireless communication devices within single user, multiple user, multiple access, and/or MIMO wireless communication system. A listening wireless communication device analyzes state of speed frame indicator bits within frames transmitted from a first other wireless communication device to determine the entire radio frame exchanges between that first other wireless communication device and a second other wireless communication device. The second other wireless communication device may be a hidden node relative to the listening wireless communication device such that all or less than all transmissions from the hidden node are received by the listening device. • Patent number: 9154430
Abstract: A relay wireless communication device is implemented to perform buffer management and coordination with a source wireless communication device. A relay wireless communication device (generally, a relay) informs a source wireless communication device (source) of the status of memory therein to store messages intended for a destination wireless communication device (destination). For example, the source transmits information to the relay, which buffers information before forwarding it on to the destination. This buffering may be a function of the source having additional information intended for the relay and/or destination. The relay performs appropriate signaling, such as suspend transmission requests and resume transmission requests, to inform other devices in the system of its memory storage status (e.g., such as when having an actual or anticipated overflow).

  • Patent number: 9148290
Abstract: In one embodiment, a particular PE device of a plurality of multi-homing PE devices between a core network and a local network determines a subset of traffic for which the particular PE device is responsible. The particular PE also establishes, with itself as root, a multicast tree within the local network for underlay multicast groups. Traffic received at the particular PE from the core network is admitted into the local network only if the core traffic corresponds to the subset of traffic for which the particular PE device is responsible (and mapped into one of the underlay multicast groups for which the particular PE device is the root). Also, multicast traffic received at the particular PE from the local network is forwarded into the core network only if the multicast traffic corresponds to the subset of traffic for which the particular PE device is responsible.

  • Patent number: 9148249
Abstract: A receiver receives frequency division multiplexing transmission signals of multiple carriers, and includes a difference detection unit, an integration unit, a noise detection unit, a selection unit, and a correction unit. The difference detection unit calculates a difference that is representative of the amount of noise in the frequency division multiplexing transmission signals. The integration unit integrates for each frequency of the multiple carriers the difference output of the difference detection unit. The noise detection unit determines whether or not impulse noise is present in the input signal. When impulse noise is present, the selection unit supplies the integrator output to the correction unit. When impulse noise is not present, the selection unit supplies the calculated difference output to the correction unit.

  • Patent number: 9148804
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving in black space is described. The asymmetric interference channel is an appropriate model for many realistic scenarios, especially those arising more frequently as dynamic spectrum access (DSA) becomes more prevalent. As DSA nodes evolve to become more cognitive (e.g. self aware, environment aware, and adaptive), the prevailing white space seeking and gray space adapting policies leave a significant portion of the spectrum, namely, the black space, untapped. Described herein is a throughput versus SINR result and a corresponding technique for jointly choosing a transmission rate and multiuser detection algorithm that allows computationally constrained cognitive DSA nodes high rate operation in spectrum black space.

  • Patent number: 9124666
Abstract: A system of network proxies distributes data to multiple servers. Each network proxy is associated with a server. A network proxy intercepts a client request for data. If the network proxy determines that the request can be served using a copy of data stored on the local server, rather than the data stored on a remote server, it diverts the request to the local server. If the network proxy determines that the request cannot be served using a data from the local server, the network proxy diverts the request to a remote server storing the primary copy of the data. A server map specifies the locations of the primary copies of data. When a primary copy of data is updated on one of the servers, the associated network proxy propagates the updated data to the other servers. The servers can provide data from files, e-mail services, databases, or multimedia services.

  • Patent number: 9118644
Abstract: The present invention enables an enterprise to move from an implicitly trusted resource pool to an explicitly authenticated resource pool. Trust information is generally conveyed whenever a new resource is added to the pool and trust information is revoked when a resource is removed from the pool or is unable to provide its advertised resources. The dynamic, event driven conveyance of trust information is particularly important in highly virtualized environments where virtual resources are dynamically scaled up and down in response to resource demand.
