  • Patent number: 9888486
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method in a cellular communication system, for avoiding errors in a HARQ process, wherein an NDI flag is used both for indicating either semi-persistent scheduling, SPS activation or SPS retransmissions, and also for indicating, by toggling of the flag, a new transmission in dynamic scheduling mode. The method comprises the steps of receiving, in a scheduling message, an indication that dynamically scheduled transmission will take place; if a semi persistent resource has occurred for the same HARQ process since a previously received indication for dynamically scheduled transmission, then considering the NDI flag to be toggled regardless of the value of the NDI flag. Thus, if the condition is fulfilled, a UE will always regard the NDI flag as indicating or requesting a new data transmission.

  • Patent number: 9876717
Abstract: Computerized methods, systems, and computer-readable media are provided for distributing virtualized gateway functionality to multiple nodes within a physical network. Initially, drivers that carry out the gateway functionality are provisioned to cooperate with endpoints instantiated on the network nodes, while a directory service is implemented to maintain a mapping between virtual internet protocol (IP) addresses and location-dependent addresses, as well as a table enumerating transformation actions according to known pathways connecting the endpoints within a network. In operation, the directory service replies to requests from the driver (carrying source and destination IP addresses of data packets) with the appropriate location-dependent addresses (utilizing the mapping) and the appropriate transformation action(s) (utilizing the table).

  • Patent number: 9866368
Abstract: In a mobile wireless communication system a client terminal needs to continuously maintain its receive and transmit operations in time alignment with the serving base station timing. A client terminal may initially achieve the timing alignment with the serving base station through the cell search procedure. Subsequently, as a client terminal may move toward or away from a serving base station, it may need to continuously track its timing to remain time aligned with the serving base station. In Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) systems, one of the commonly used methods for time tracking may be the Cyclic Prefix (CP) correlation. When the length of the CP is small, the reliability of the CP correlation may be low, especially when the signal quality is poor. A method and apparatus are disclosed that use the initial synchronization signals for time tracking for improved performance and reduced complexity.

  • Patent number: 9853899
Abstract: Embodiments provide a traffic control system for WLAN access points. The traffic control system works in dependence on a first input-user priority (supplied by an authentication server). This allows different service levels to be provided to different classes of customer. In addition, the traffic control system polices and/or shapes traffic based on a second input—a modulation rate detector, which measures the modulation rate at which each connected client is sending its traffic, and uses it to indirectly cause fairer use of the available air interface capacity (e.g. by causing TCP streams to back off when they detect packet loss). Finally, for some embodiments where public Wi-Fi is being delivered through private Wi-Fi access points, the traffic control system is to manage the air interface utilization split between public and private WiFi users, to ensure that private users do not have their Wi-Fi air interface network capacity unduly impaired by public users.
