  • Patent number: 9872339
Abstract: Novel tools and techniques that can provide wireless service for multiple service providers from a single, multi-service provider wireless access point. In an aspect, a multi-service provider wireless access point might communicate with a plurality of wireless devices, each associated with a different wireless carrier, and route communications from each device to the appropriate carrier (and/or, similarly, transmit communications from each carrier to the appropriate wireless device). In this way, for example, a single wireless access point could provide service to cellphones of subscribers of a number of different carriers. Such a wireless access point can provide enhanced efficiency and reduced cost, along with the ability to provide higher service for a number of wireless carriers.

  • Patent number: 9179404
Abstract: Aspects of the methods and apparatus relate to performing user equipment (UE) only discontinuous transmission (DTX) smart blanking. One aspect of the methods and apparatus include maintaining a list of voice configurations that would trigger user equipment (UE) discontinuous transmission (DTX). Further, the aspect includes receiving a current voice configuration for the UE from a network, and determining whether the current voice configuration of the UE received from the network falls within the list of voice configurations that would trigger UE DTX. Further, the aspect includes enabling uplink UE DTX at the UE when the current voice configuration of a UE falls within the list of voice configurations.

  • Patent number: 9055007
Abstract: A network device for managing communications. The network device includes a first counter operable to track CIR tokens. The first counter is operable to increase the CIR tokens at a first rate. The network device also includes a second counter operable to track the EIR tokens. The second counter is operable to increase the EIR tokens at a second rate. The network device also includes logic in communication with the first counter and the second counter. The logic is operable to determine whether there are EIR tokens in response to a determination that there are not CIR tokens. The logic is further operable to command the second counter to decrement the EIR tokens in response to a determination that there are EIR tokens. The logic is further operable to communicate a data unit from the network device through a network in response to decrementing the EIR tokens.

  • Patent number: 8792421
Abstract: A novel and useful apparatus for and method of Improving idle connection state power consumption in wireless local area network (WLAN) system. Beacon transmission delay information is determined by the access points and advertised to the stations via a Beacon Transmission Delay Information Element. In response, the stations adjust their Wake For Beacon Reception time accordingly to wake up at a time much closer to the actual receipt of the Beacon, thereby reducing power consumption due to the reduced time the receive circuits need to be powered on.

  • Patent number: 7826374
Abstract: A method and apparatus for improving the efficiency of a network. A source node determines the propagation delay for data to reach a destination node. This enables the source node to transmit data more efficiently by ensuring a greater portion of a specific time slot is used for receiving data by the destination node. The destination node then determines if it is connected to any other nodes, and determines the propagation delay between the other connected nodes. The process continues until a node detects it is not connected to any other nodes for which a propagation delay has not been computed. Thus, each node on the network knows the propagation delay between each node, and the nodes utilize this information to more efficiently transfer data through the network.
