  • Patent number: 5561949
Abstract: A truss and tie-down strap assembly for use in conventional building structures are shown. The strap provides direct mounting of the truss to the wall studs to provide increased mounting strength for the roof assembly to the side walls of a structure. One leg of the flexible strap is mounted to the truss assembly and the other leg of the flexible strap is mounted to the top plate and stud assembly. The strap is formed of a flexible material such that it can be easily deformed to accommodate different truss structures and side wall configurations. A truss and tie-down strap according to the invention can be preassembled at one location and mounted to the top plate and wall stud assembly at a separate location.

  • Patent number: 5553440
Abstract: A multi-sheet glazing unit has a pair of outer glass sheets spaced from one another and secured to a spacer frame having a generally U-shaped cross section defined by outer legs secured to a base. The recess of a sheet retaining member is mounted on peripheral edge portions of an intermediate glass sheet. The intermediate glass sheet and sheet retaining member are mounted within the outer legs of the spacer frame to position the intermediate sheet between and spaced from the outer sheets. A method of making multi-sheet units is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5524407
Abstract: A shutter and retention assembly of modular members molded or extruded from a polymeric material includes a pair of side rails, each side rail having a front wall, an outer wall and an inner wall. The inner wall includes a retaining channel formed therein. The shutter further includes a shutter panel member having a central portion and a pair of runners extending along the sides thereof. Each of the runners includes a projection extending along at least a portion thereof. The projection has a cross-sectional shape complementary to the retaining channel of the side rails for securing the panel member to the side rails. The complementary shapes of the engaged projections and retaining channels resist disengagement of the side rails from the panel member.

  • Patent number: 5515654
Abstract: A telescopic boom including an elongated hollow outer boom, an elongated inner boom telescopically received within the outer boom, and guidance structure for guiding the inner boom for telescopic movement is provided. The guidance structure includes a plurality of guide rails attached to the interior corners of the outer boom, a first roller assembly attached to one end of the inner boom, and a second roller assembly attached to one end of the outer boom. The first roller assembly includes a plurality of wheels mounted on axles for engaging the guide rails. Each of the wheels includes an arcuate rail-engaging portion which presents a radius of curvature equal to the radius of curvature of the guide rails. The second roller assembly includes a pair of roller bars positioned on opposed sides of one end of the outer boom for guiding the inner boom during telescopic movement. Each of the roller bars extends transverse to the longitudinal axis of the outer boom and is rotatably mounted on an elongated shaft.
