Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a method and apparatus for performing random access in a user equipment for a small cell e-NB with a small cell service area in heterogeneous e-NB cell carrier integration (dual connectivity or inter-eNB carrier aggregation) in mobile communication systems. In accordance with an aspect of the present disclosure, a method for performing random access in a mobile communication system is provided. The method includes receiving a configuration request message for configuring a Serving Cell Group (SCG) from a second eNB located in a service area of a first eNB through the first eNB; configuring an SCG cell based on the configuration request message, and sending a configuration response message in response to the configuration request message to the second eNB through the first eNB; and performing random access if there is uplink data present on a logic channel (LCH) relocated into the SCG cell.

  • Patent number: 10326694
Abstract: Presented herein are hybrid approaches to multi-destination traffic forwarding in overlay networks that can be used to facilitate interoperability between head-end-replication-support network devices (i.e., those that only use head-end-replication) and multicast-support network devices (i.e., those that only use native multicast). By generally using existing tunnel end-points (TEPs) supported functionality for sending multi-destination traffic and enhancing the TEPs to receive multi-destination traffic with the encapsulation scheme they do not natively support, the presented methods and systems minimize the required enhancements to achieve interoperability and circumvents any hard limitations that the end-point hardware may have. The present methods and systems may be used with legacy hardware that are commissioned or deployed as well as new hardware that are configured with legacy protocols.

  • Patent number: 10306413
Abstract: Devices and methods of estimating the AoD of a STA are generally described. The STA receives comparison symbols from a first AP antenna. The comparison symbols are received prior to and after switching of transmitter chains from a first set of antennas to a second set of antennas. AoD symbols are received immediately after the comparison symbols. A phase and amplitude correction is determined based on a phase and amplitude change between the comparison symbols and the second AoD symbol corrected based thereon. The AoD is subsequently estimated based on the symbol measurements.

  • Patent number: 10298450
Abstract: A method is provided that uses a consistent hashing technique to dispatch incoming packets in a stable system prior to adding of a node. The method uses a hash table and assigns hash buckets in the table to each network node. A set of fields in each incoming packet is hashed and is used to identify the corresponding hash bucket. The packets are then dispatched to the network nodes based on the nodes' hash buckets. During an observation period, the method identifies the ongoing sessions by creating a bit vector table that is used to identify the old and new sessions during a re-dispatching period. The method uses the consistent hashing method and the probabilistic method dispatch the incoming packets such that each packet that belongs to an old session is dispatched to the same old node that has been processing the other packets of the session.

  • Patent number: 10251167
Abstract: The present invention provides a method whereby user equipment located outside network coverage or in partial network coverage performs device-to-device (D2D) communication. The user equipment, which has a D2D signal to transmit, can send a request for resource allocation for the transmission of the D2D signal to user equipment configured as a cluster head, or become a cluster head itself. The user equipment, which has the D2D signal to transmit, can transmit the D2D signal according to the resource allocation by the cluster head or resource allocation performed by becoming a cluster head itself. Other user equipment receives the D2D signal by receiving or overhearing information on the resource allocation from the cluster head.

  • Patent number: 10177899
Abstract: A receiver receives a first data stream and a second data stream from a transmitting device over a packet-based communication network, the first data stream being of a first media type (e.g. audio) and the second data stream being of a second media type (e.g. video). The first jitter buffer will buffer each of a plurality of portions of the first data stream as they are received via the receiver, and apply a de-jittering delay before outputting each portion of the first data stream (e.g. audio stream) to be played out through the receiving device. The jitter buffer controller receives information on the second data stream (e.g. video stream), and adapts the de-jittering delay of the first jitter buffer (e.g. audio jitter buffer) in dependence on the information on the second data stream (e.g. information on the video stream).
