Abstract: A hybrid type vessel propulsion apparatus includes an engine, an electric motor, a propeller shaft that rotates together with a propeller, a first transmission path, a second transmission path, and a third transmission path. The first transmission path transmits power of the engine to the propeller shaft. The second transmission path transmits power of the electric motor to the propeller shaft without transmitting the power through the first transmission path. The third transmission path transmits a portion of the power of the engine, which has been transmitted from the first transmission path to the propeller shaft, to the electric motor in order for the electric motor to generate electricity.

  • Patent number: 10995648
Abstract: A marine drive has a primary exhaust outlet on its lower gearcase that discharges a primary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to seawater in which the marine drive is situated. A secondary exhaust outlet is located on the marine drive above the primary exhaust outlet and discharges a secondary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to atmosphere around the marine drive at least when the engine is operated at an idle speed. A tertiary exhaust outlet is located on the marine drive between the primary and secondary exhaust outlets, and discharges a tertiary flow of exhaust gas from the engine to the seawater or to the atmosphere depending upon a current location of the tertiary exhaust outlet with respect to the seawater. A muffler is configured to reduce noise emanating from the tertiary exhaust outlet.

  • Patent number: 10988216
Abstract: A hydrofoil for a user on a body of water includes a fuselage with a V-shaped front wing and a rear stabilizer. A mast has a lower end projecting upwardly from the fuselage and an upper end fixed with an elongated deck such that the deck is parallel to the fuselage. In use, the user is pulled forward in the body of water by either a towing device, an impeller device, wave swells, or the like, such that the front wing, through hydrofoil action, raises the deck above a surface of the water. As the deck raises higher above the water, the distal tips of the front wing surface and lose lift, stabilizing the elevation of the deck above the water.

  • Patent number: 10967936
Abstract: A watercraft system including one or more air passageways and/or one or more water passageways is provided. The air passageways may extend from an upper surface of the watercraft, through the body of the watercraft, to an underneath surface of the watercraft. The water passageways may extend from an underneath forward or side portion on the watercraft, through the body of the watercraft, to a rear portion of the watercraft. The air and/or water passageways may be constricting from the inlets to the outlets so that the air and/or water is accelerated through the passageways during use of the craft. In this way, the release of the accelerated air and/or water decreases the craft's drag and provides the craft a forward thrust.

  • Patent number: 10960959
Abstract: A catamaran lifting apparatus is disclosed for lifting objects in a marine environment. The apparatus includes first and second vessels that are spaced apart during use. A first frame spans between the vessels. A second frame spans between the vessels. The frames are spaced apart and connected to the vessels in a configuration that spaces the vessels apart. The first frame connects to the first vessel with a universal joint and to the second vessel with a hinged connection. The second frame connects to the second vessel with a universal joint and to the first vessel with a hinged or pinned connection. The catamaran hull arrangement provides longitudinal flexibility in a quartering sea state due to the unique universal joint and hinge placement between the frames or trusses and the hulls or barges. Each of the frames extends upwardly in an inverted u-shape, providing a space under the frame and in between the barges that enables a marine vessel to be positioned in between the barges and under the frames.

  • Patent number: 10946935
Abstract: A shade canopy configured for use on all model Personal Watercrafts (PWC) is described. A Bimini Top provides shade from the sun to occupants of the PWC. The bimini top provides the ability to board and unboard from the sides of the PWC. This apparatus also folds and stores on the rear of the PWC and is contained in a zippered boot with straps. The bimini top supports a permanent or non-permanent mounting system to the hull to avoid hull modification. Two variants, a folding or telescoping support structure are available which facilitate accessories such as racks and coolers that attach to the rear of the PWC. Straps positioned around the PWC tension to the apparatus, ensuring the Bimini Top remains taut, and that the Bimini Top does not angle fore, aft, left or right. The straps are affixed to the PWC using existing mooring points on the PWC or via an add-on kit.
