  • Patent number: 6080899
Abstract: A process for producing a fluorinated organic compound comprising: (a) reacting an organic starting material with hydrogen fluoride in the presence of a fluorination catalyst and an HFC reaction solvent to produce a product stream containing the fluorinated organic compound wherein the reaction solvent has a boiling point higher than that of the fluorinated organic compound; and (b) recovering the fluorinated organic compound from the product stream.

  • Patent number: 5449845
Abstract: A process for reducing the content of unsaturated impurities in saturated fluorohalocarbons and fluorohalohydrocarbons by contacting the impure saturated fluorohalocarbon and/or fluorohalohydrocarbon in a substantially dry fluid state with a substantially dry amorphous solid metal oxide composition consisting essentially of cupric oxide, cobaltic oxide, silver oxide, manganese dioxide, or a mixture of any two or more thereof, at an effective temperature up to about 300.degree. C.

  • Patent number: 5300710
Abstract: A process is disclosed for producing HCFC-124 and HFC-125 which includes reacting certain pentahaloethane starting materials (e.g., CF.sub.3 CHCl.sub.2) in the gaseous phase at an elevated temperature in the presence of certain supported metal catalysts containing effective amounts of zinc. A catalyst of metal fluoride on a fluorinated alumina support having an atomic ratio of F to Al of at least 2.7:1 and containing .beta.-aluminmum fluoride, is employed.
