  • Patent number: 9838266
Abstract: Using various functionalities of electronic devices such as applications that gather location information to provide a service to the user can come at the cost of significant power consumption, and consequently battery drainage. A data sharing system enables the creation of a network of participant devices where participant devices in the network can take turns in collecting and sharing data with the rest of the participant devices in the network. The one or more participant devices can share the obtained data through Bluetooth® low energy (BTLE) or other low consumption channel, so that the ensemble of participant devices could have better battery life, higher availability, and/or better accuracy, compared to each device having to individually obtain the data.

  • Patent number: 9787781
Abstract: Exemplary methods, apparatuses, and systems store an identifier for a user device when the user device is determined to be accessing a network service and store a time at which the user device is determined to be accessing the network service for each instance of the user device being determined to be accessing the network service. Periods of time during each day of the week in which the user device is likely to accessing to the network service are determined based upon the stored identifier and times. Whether the user is likely to access the network service while at work or at home is determined based upon the determined periods of time in which user devices are likely to be accessing the network service.

  • Patent number: 9736104
Abstract: A computer creates an invitation on a social network. The computer receives data from a social networking post, and identifies in the data from the social networking post information about a future event that a first member of a social network intends to participate in. The computer determines an invitation template based on the information about the future event, and generates an invitation to a second member of the social network for the future event based on the information about the future event and based on the invitation template. The invitation template can be determined based on one or more of an event type and event subtype in an event record. The invitation can be generated by populating the template with information in the social networking post, other information in the social network, or other information not in the social network.

  • Patent number: 9495325
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for remote direct memory access (RDMA) optimized producer-consumer message processing in a messaging hub is provided. The method includes initializing a shared memory region in memory of a host server hosting operation of a messaging hub. The initialization provides for a control portion and one or more data portions, the control portion storing an index to an available one of the data portions. The method also includes transmitting to a message producer an address of the shared memory region and receiving a message in one of the data portions of the shared memory region from the message producer by way of an RDMA write operation on a network interface of the host server. Finally, the method includes retrieving the message from the one of the data portions and processing the message in the messaging hub in response to the receipt of the message.

  • Patent number: 9473343
Abstract: A relocation mechanism in a multi-nodal computer environment dynamically routes processing units in a distributed computer system based on incoming physical data into the processing unit. The relocation mechanism makes an initial location decision to place a processing unit onto a node in the distributed computer system. The relocation mechanism monitors physical data flowing into a processing unit or node and dynamically relocates the processing unit to another type of node within the ‘cloud’ of nodes based on the type of physical data or pattern of data flowing into the processing unit. The relocation mechanism may use one or more rules with criteria for different data types observed in the data flow to optimize when to relocate the processing units.

  • Patent number: 9258208
Abstract: In one embodiment, a method comprises creating, in a computing network, a hierarchal routing topology for reaching a destination, the hierarchal routing topology comprising a single parent supernode providing reachability to the destination, and a plurality of child supernodes, each child supernode comprising one or more exit network devices each providing a corresponding link to the parent supernode; receiving, in one of the child supernodes, a data packet for delivery to the destination; causing the data packet to traverse along any available data link in the one child supernode independent of any routing topology established by network devices in the one child supernode, until the data packet reaches one of the exit network devices; and the one exit network device forwarding the data packet to the parent supernode, via the corresponding link, for delivery to the destination.
