  • Patent number: 11146802
Abstract: The techniques described herein relate to methods, apparatus, and computer readable media configured to specify two-dimensional spatial relationship information. Video data includes a track group type for a group of two-dimensional tracks. The track group type is a two-dimensional spatial relationship track group type, wherein a spatial relationship of the group of tracks is specified based on a two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system. Two-dimensional spatial relationship description data for the group of tracks, can specify a two-dimensional region based on the two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system, and a relation of each two-dimensional track in the group of two-dimensional tracks to the two-dimensional region. Source data for the two-dimensional region can be generated by composing each two-dimensional track from the group of tracks based on the associated relation of the two-dimensional track to the two-dimensional region.

  • Patent number: 11044480
Abstract: A method for encoding a block of a video using inter prediction includes selecting, during motion estimation for the block, a first sub-pixel interpolation filter for sub-pixel interpolation of fractional motion; selecting, during motion compensation, a second sub-pixel interpolation filter based on the first sub-pixel interpolation filter; and encoding, in a compressed bitstream, the second sub-pixel interpolation filter. The first sub-pixel interpolation filter is a 2-tap filter. The first sub-pixel interpolation filter includes weight tuples. Each weight tuple includes two weights and used for sub-pixel interpolation at a sub-pixel location between a first pixel and a second pixel. For at least one weight tuple of the weight tuples, the two weights are not based on a first distance between the sub-pixel location and the first pixel and a second distance between the sub-pixel location and the second pixel.

  • Patent number: 11023743
Abstract: Example implementations described herein are directed to integration of far infrared cameras in a vehicle system to detect objects based on relative temperature of objects. Such implementations can improve accuracy when paired, for example, with classification systems that classify objects based on the shape of the object, as both the shape and relative temperature can be used to ensure that the classification is accurate. Further, example implementations can synchronize far infrared cameras with other sensor systems to determine distance, energy, and absolute temperature of an object, which can also be used to enhance classification. Such classifications can then be provided to an advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which can control the vehicle system in accordance with the object classification.

  • Patent number: 10896492
Abstract: Enhancing edges of objects in a thermal image comprises receiving a thermal image and generating a gradient magnitude image comprising a plurality of pixels having associated gradient magnitude values. The gradient magnitude image is partitioned into subregions and gradient magnitude statistics are calculated for each. Mapping parameters are calculated for each of the subregions that equalize and smooth a dynamic range of the corresponding gradient magnitude statistics across the subregions. The mapping parameters calculated for each of the subregions are applied to pixels in the subregions to generate enhanced gradient magnitude values having equalized luminosity and contrast, and a wireframe image is formed therefrom having enhanced edges of objects. The wireframe image is displayed on a display device, wherein the wireframe image appears as a decluttered line drawing where the enhanced edges have increased luminosity and contrast compared to the thermal image to reduce the cognitive load of the user.

  • Patent number: 10868976
Abstract: An image is displayed by smartglasses, the image being at least partly superimposed on a real environment of the smartglasses when the real environment is viewed through the smartglasses. In this case, the image represents an image of the real environment which is recorded by a night-vision image-recording device. The image is displayed in such a way that an image object in the recorded image, which corresponds to a real object arranged in the real environment, is displayed in the image in a manner overlapping the real object in the real environment. In the dark and in the event of poor visibility, potential hazards can be perceived significantly better by virtue of the night-vision images in order that additional driver-assisting information is provided and traffic safety is increased.
