  • Patent number: 9315154
Abstract: An adjustable rearview mirror which allows the rear view mirror to be adjusted out of the viewing field of the windshield area to improve the driver and passenger experience in the motor vehicle. The adjustable rearview mirror generally includes a central slot in which a mirror arm is pivotally secured. A pair of retainer rods may be selectively extended across and retracted from the central slot with a trigger. When the retainer rods are retracted from the central slot, the mirror arm may be freely adjusted into various positions. When the retainer rods are extended across the central slot, the mirror arm may be locked into a particular position. Thus, the rearview mirror may be withdrawn from view when it is not necessary so as to allow an unobstructed view of the area surrounding the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9310528
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a lens which includes raised portions arranged on a surface of the lens with a pitch smaller than or equal to a predetermined pitch, and is configured to reduce reflection of light having a wavelength longer than or equal to the predetermined pitch includes preparing a molding die in which recessed portions corresponding to the raised portions are formed, filling a molten resin material into a cavity of the molding die via a gate, and curing the resin material in the molding die. The molding die includes a peripheral region in a periphery of the gate, and an adjacent region adjacent to the peripheral region. First recessed portions in the peripheral region are deeper than second recessed portions in the adjacent region.

  • Patent number: 9304287
Abstract: A light concentrating apparatus is presented. Disclosed apparatuses include a collection of shaped reflectors capable of redirecting incident light, sunlight for example. The reflectors are configured to modify the spatial distribution of the redirected light in a manner where the distribution of light associated with a first dimension is modified differently than the distribution of light associated with a second, different dimension, via a relay of reflections. Contemplated apparatuses generate a substantially collimated output beam subsequent to the relay of reflections.

  • Patent number: 9261636
Abstract: A polarizing plate includes a polarizer having absorption and transmission axes, a protective film on an upper surface of the polarizer, a half-wavelength (?/2) retardation film on a lower surface of the polarizer, an adhesive layer on a lower surface of the half-wavelength (?/2) retardation film, and a quarter-wavelength (?/4) retardation film on a lower surface of the adhesive layer. An absolute orthogonal b-coordinate value based on a CIELAB color coordinate system of the polarizing plate may be approximately 3 or less when the polarizing plate is stacked with a reference polarizing plate having a degree of polarization of at least 99.9% such that an angle between the absorption axis of the polarizer and an absorption axis of a polarizer of the reference polarizing plate or an angle between the transmission axis of the polarizer and a transmission axis of the polarizer of the reference polarizing plate is 90°.

  • Patent number: 9229141
Abstract: An optical assembly includes a light directing film having an average effective transmission of at least 1.3, a light diffusing film having an optical haze of at least 5% and a plurality of spaced apart posts disposed and defining an air gap between the light directing and diffusing films. The posts are attached to a first major surface of the substrate and an opposing second end of each post is attached to the light diffusing film via a first adhesive layer. The first adhesive layer forms a meniscus at each post having an outer surface radius of at least 0.5 micrometers.
